第一次親自讀愛爾蘭作家寫的書。果然英文版好好讀，文字精煉、簡潔卻有力。
主角是Furlong，他的妻子是Eileen。故事圍繞著Furlong推進，而且是用「意識流書寫」方式去表述，將主觀感受放入客觀事物去說明，令日常瑣碎的事讀起來很有味道，這些事其實一點也不小。
