  • One sided

Mehdi and his guests shot the arrow and are busy marking the target around it. Their simplistic world view comprises very selective and distorted inspection of both history and current affairs, and completely lacks nuance.

  • Because face palming hasn’t produced better results

Literally interviewing an Iranian congressperson, he can pronoun Iran (eh rahn) correctly but then continually, repeatedly, and incorrectly pronounces Iranian as “I rain ian”. EVEN IN THE FACE OF A CONGRESSPERSON WHO REPEATEDLY PRONOUNCES Iranian CORRECTLY AS “Eh-Ron-ian”.

Mehdi’s own name follows this syllable structure and it’s “meh-de”. Everyone should just call this man “May Dee” until he figures it out.

  • Asks the tough questions

Gets great guests and is unafraid to ask the tough questions that listeners need to know. I always learn something new or get great perspective listening to the pod.

  • Right Wing Mehdi?

Caught you on the Trigger worms and although you made good points about Biden’s strong economy and Trump’s Jan 6 pardons you came up light in two areas. First you parroted the right wing talking point that Biden only beat Trump because of Covid. Trump’s first term was a disaster long before Covid and Biden built a historic 81 million vote coalition led by black women while also flipping many white men to mop the floor with Trump by 7 million. Also you failed to castigate Mamdani who made a fool ... more

  • Thoughtful and to the point

Have been following Mehdi for long and it’s great to listen to his analysis unrestrained. He is clever and composed as he cuts through the BS of this moment. Fantastic listening

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

'Logical' That Iran Might Now Want Nukes, Says Biden's Former Envoy to Iran
Q: What's a realistic path forward for U.S. diplomacy in the near term?
A pragmatic mix of diplomacy, credible deterrence, and phased sanctions relief tied to verified steps by Iran, along with building broader regional alignment and ensuring that any deal has robust enforcement and accountability provisions.
'Logical' That Iran Might Now Want Nukes, Says Biden's Former Envoy to Iran
Q: Is a return to the JCPOA realistically feasible under the current administration?
The guest suggests it could be feasible with a clear policy signal to lift certain sanctions in exchange for verifiable compliance, but acknowledges the environment has changed and congressional and regional politics complicate rapid re-engagement.
This Congressman Went From Republican to Independent. But How "Independent" Is He?
Q: Would you accept an endorsement from Donald Trump in this election?
He has not offered, and I have not sought it; I'm focused on representing my district as an independent, not on courting endorsements from either party.
This Congressman Went From Republican to Independent. But How "Independent" Is He?
Q: Do you caucus with Republicans or Democrats, and why does that matter?
I caucus with Republicans through the end of the term, but I don't see it as a fixed requirement; I want rules in the House that don't force independents into one side so that we can pursue independent governing approaches.
This Congressman Went From Republican to Independent. But How "Independent" Is He?
Q: What made you decide this is the year you're going to be independent?
I've seen how dysfunctional Congress has become due to excessive partisanship, and after considering gerrymandering dynamics and district alignment, I chose to stand apart from party labels to better represent my hometown while aiming to reduce hyper-partisanship.
