Reviews

4.2 out of 5 stars from 600 ratings
  • Owned by Bryan Driskell

Alabama being in the playoff is a joke. They passed Notre Dame after beating Auburn by 7 and then remained ahead after being blown out in the CCP. The first year that the “eye test” and advanced metrics do not favor Alabama we magically decide to push the narrative for resume because “it’s different for the 12 team playoff”.

Defending the decision and the process shows a lack of credibility.

Good show but cubelic needs to stop cutting people off. He interrupts McElroy literally at every turn. Also interupts guests. Greg can't even get a full sentence out and cubelic tries to dominate everything. I listen mostly for Greg's analysis so this gets old.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Pete Thamel, from ESPN, tells McElroy & Cubelic just how wild & surprising all this Brendan Sorsby fallout has become, what the reinstatement means for College Football, and what's next for the NCAA
Q: When you look back at just yesterday in its totality, what do you make of it now?
Pete Thamel describes a significant moment for college football governance, noting the complexity of the case, the varied reactions from conferences and schools, and the likelihood of future actions rather than an immediate drastic shift. He emphasizes that while the injunction and public statements are consequential, the long-term impact will depend on how conferences and the NCAA navigate the ongoing process and potential appeals.
6-10-26 McElroy & Cubelic in the Morning Hour 3: Better or Worse at QB in '26; Dennis Dodd talks CFB; last chance to give Damian marriage advice!
Q: What are your thoughts on the Brendan Sorsby situation and its potential impact on college football governance?
Dennis Dodd suggests the situation could accelerate self-governance debates in major conferences, with potential consequences for eligibility decisions, conference scheduling, and the broader control of college football's future governance.
6-10-26 McElroy & Cubelic in the Morning Hour 3: Better or Worse at QB in '26; Dennis Dodd talks CFB; last chance to give Damian marriage advice!
Q: What is your overall read on which programs will have better or worse quarterback play this season?
The hosts argue that some programs will bounce back or fall due to system fit, talent around the quarterback, and play style, with Penn State, Missouri, Florida State, and Alabama discussed as examples of potential direction—some up, some down, depending on the offense and roster.
Chris Vannini of The Athletic tells McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning how Texas Tech has been handling the unique offseason and why pooling of media rights in the Protect College Sports Act has some issues
Q: How does the Protect College Sports Act attempt to change the landscape for media rights, and who benefits most?
The act proposes pooling media rights to promote cohesion across conferences and potentially keep the landscape balanced, with the biggest beneficiaries being conferences outside the SEC and Big Ten, while the law also raises questions about potential freezes on conference membership and long-term realignment implications.
Chris Vannini of The Athletic tells McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning how Texas Tech has been handling the unique offseason and why pooling of media rights in the Protect College Sports Act has some issues
Q: What did you learn about Brett Yormark's scheduling ideas and the rationale behind 10 conference games?
Yormark suggested considering 10 conference games to improve TV value and align with a 2014 playoff framework, but coaches were mixed; the plan would rely on ensuring sufficient home games and balancing strength of schedule, with clear concerns about adding too many non-conference games.
