  • Have Hope Again!

I am so thankful that a trainer I was using recommended Mark to me. Now I get to attend his Florida clinic next week and am TRILLED!!! I’ve been trying for 6 years to help my traumatized Paso Fino and it felt like throwing spaghetti on the wall hoping something would stick! I have regained hope that it is possible to help him. He has come such a long way, but I was feeling sad that I was stuck in the 2 steps forward, 5 steps back dance. At my age, I have concerns I could get hurt! Cannot wait to... more

  • Something for everyone in this Gem of a podcast

Thank you Mark and Jenny for your pearls of wisdom and advice through your podcasts! Each episode Mark and Jenny talk through member questions that at the heart of the matter (to me) are all about being able to have your horse with you (as in between the reins or there where you are and following a feel) and being able to interrupt their thought/ influence your horse by having them be ok with what you are asking of them in all manner of environments. I find Mark's advice very real life and helpf... more

  • Mark Langley has changed my approach to horse training fundamentally. Mark explains his training concepts very well and has a website and YouTube channel that provide further information. I have worked both my personal horses through the Challenge Series on Mark's website and they have responded beautifully. They have very dissimilar personalities and are at different stages in life/training. I highly recommend this podcast.

Leading with Awareness: Why Horses Tune Out and How to Keep Them Thinking
Q: What should Daisy do to keep the horse in the green zone without over-relying on the flag?
Focus on quiet, consistent lead-rope cues and progressively increase the horse's awareness of the lead rope itself, using the flag to create initial awareness but transitioning to the lead rope with careful timing and a few, targeted cues that invite searching and movement.
Bringing Horses Back Into Work: Rebuilding Confidence, Softness & Emotional Balance
Q: How can Alana safely reintroduce her OTTB after eight months and address head tossing during groundwork into riding?
Keep groundwork and ridden work aligned; increase clarity on the ground before riding, maintain boundary consistency, and employ long rein practices to acclimate the horse to pressure. Transition to mounted work only after the horse demonstrates softness and trust under voice and rein cues, finishing each session positively.
Bringing Horses Back Into Work: Rebuilding Confidence, Softness & Emotional Balance
Q: What considerations should Nicole have when bringing a horse back into work after lameness and hoof issues?
Use a progressive program starting with in-hand work and controlled long-rein sessions to establish leadership, boundaries, and comfort with pressure. Progress to riding only when the horse is clearly relaxed, confident, and responsive to cues, ensuring the horse processes new environments calmly.
Bringing Horses Back Into Work: Rebuilding Confidence, Softness & Emotional Balance
Q: What should Emma start with to bring her off-the-track Thoroughbred back into work and set him up for success?
Begin with building a soft, connected mindset and gradual handling skills, focusing on safety, trust, and simple leading. Avoid rushing under saddle; use groundwork to create calmness, then reintroduce riding in small, controlled steps once the horse stays centered and relaxed.
The reason some horses won’t lead into a trailer – and how to fix it
Q: Kath asks whether she should ignore the pullback or address it as an issue.
Mark stresses that pullbacks indicate a hole in the leading and must be tested under pressure, with a focus on varying speeds, interruptions, and the horse's response until the rope leads are soft and consistent.
