  • My Favorite Podcast

I listen to podcasts every single day while driving, mowing, or doing barn work. The conversations here are enlightened and open and where horsemanship is going in the best interest of horses. Elsa is what drove me to this review. It’s a paradigm shift and mind blowing. Even just considering the concepts. In 50 yrs of training, this is what I consider at the top of Maslow’s hierarchy.

  • No stupid questions!

A quick note to tell you about how inspiring I found the episode with Philippe. I have dealt with imposter syndrome while I move about the horse world and your conversation was so reaffirming. I ride horses out on the Prairie and have found myself saying things like I “just” trail ride - instead of just taking ownership of it and finding the beauty there. It feels like the most natural expression of horsemanship to me.

I’ve learned so much from your show and I appreciate your time, expertise ... more

  • Not good

I really liked Equestrian Voices, a similar podcast/precursor to this one. Dear Horseworld is not nearly as good. The episodes are too long, rambly, and hard to follow. I don’t trust the host bc she has guests on and then advertises their product in other episodes. Not a professional or trustworthy source of advice/information in my opinion.

  • She’s for the horse…

Noelle used to drive me crazy with her questions and mmmm … tell me more about that and seemingly over engaging and thoughtful… but she can get the best guests and has obviously worked hard on letting her guests speak without interjecting so much like she used to….I am glad I waited to give a review because like horsemanship we are all working to be better at what we do… I feel Noelle is a true advocate for the horse and offers the best of the best guests… she’s definitely improved and I feel sh... more

Horse Health: The Virus Almost Every Horse Already Carries — What to Know Before the Next Outbreak with Dr. Bruno Karam
Q: Vaccines for EHV-1 are common, but what are the realities of their protective effect, especially regarding neurological disease, and how should owners think about vaccination strategies?
Vaccines mainly protect against respiratory disease and can reduce shedding, potentially lessening transmission, but they do not guarantee protection against the neurological form. Decisions should weigh exposure risk, individual horse health, and outbreak context; serology and tailored schedules may guide whether more frequent vaccination is warranted.
Horse Health: The Virus Almost Every Horse Already Carries — What to Know Before the Next Outbreak with Dr. Bruno Karam
Q: What is shedding in this context, and why is understanding shedding patterns important for controlling an outbreak?
Shedding is the release of the virus into the environment, through nasal secretions or other pathways, enabling transmission. Some horses shed without obvious illness, complicating control because testing may reveal positives in apparently healthy animals; effective biosecurity must consider herd dynamics and testing limitations.
Horse Health: The Virus Almost Every Horse Already Carries — What to Know Before the Next Outbreak with Dr. Bruno Karam
Q: Before we dive into the nuances of that situation, can you explain what EHV-1 is to listeners who may not be familiar with it and why everyone in the horse industry should know about it?
EHV-1 is a highly contagious virus primarily considered respiratory, but almost all horses have been exposed and can carry it for life, with recrudescence under stress. It can cause respiratory disease, abortion, neonatal issues, and a neurological form (EHM) due to vasculitis and microvascular damage, which is why vigilance at shows and in management is crucial.
What If Your Horse Could Say No? Elsa Sinclair on Freedom Based Training Part 1
Q: What is the core of trust between horse and human?
Trust is the willingness to suspend judgment and gather evidence from the horse and their environment, rather than assuming safety or danger immediately.
What If Your Horse Could Say No? Elsa Sinclair on Freedom Based Training Part 1
Q: How did you begin this journey and what was the turning point?
The turning point came when a client offered to sponsor Elsa's Mustang project, prompting her to pursue Freedom Based Training and document it as a year-long experiment.
