Joining him are his co-hosts, comedy writers and performers Stephen Loh and Michael Gabriel. Together they explore the absurd underbelly of the craft beer world while also discussing movies, music, video g... more

Been listening to the malty boys for a while now, but this last year I really appreciate having some humor to get me through what was a rough year for me. Listened to a lot of back log over the last year in addition to all of the new stuff. While I love the NA exploration you guys have done, I’ve been loving the gauntlet of barleywines for Stephen to enjoy.
When I first started my malty journey in 2019, I was young in shape and naive. IPAmaxxing and mogging on beer amateur jesters. I met a woman and she asked, hey what’s this podcast? That Mr. custard sounds like a smart and funny guy!”
Fast forward as I drink a 2003 arrogant Bastard as I write an alimony check, my wife took the family to Columbus to be Mrs. custard. Darn you Michael Gabriel! All I got in the divorce were the 2000s white whales so I can drink along with the Alex/Stephen old money ... more
Long time listener. Just wanted to say thank you for the content fellas. My wife n I have been in the craft beer game for quite some time. A little back story, she worked at the Ballast Miramar (pre-sale) and I worked for a craft beer distributor in Ohio. This would have been 2012-16’ish. We now have a little one and can’t keep up with all the industry news so we mostly get all the gossip from you guys. We still try and hit up local breweries throughout our travels to see what is going on in loc... more
From what I see on Ploddy (it’s a Gen Z social network yall aren’t allowed) these guys talk about “craft beer,” which is apparently some long dead culture where they drink alcohol? I’m not sure what that is, I’ve never seen beer before. I don’t know what “barleywine” is, but I think my parents had wine at their wedding maybe? I have had a raisin before, they talk about that a lot too. I don’t know. They’re funny but they’re SOOOOOO old (they killed off the only character that wasn’t 40, it’s sad... more
Bit worried about the format wars that’s developing between Steven and Alex, it’s horrible when your parents fight. Nonetheless, this is the only beer podcast you need, assuming you have that need.
I sent Alex some uk non alcohol beers but I don’t think they got there as I may have misdeclqred them - oops and sorry

Humor-driven deep dives into beer culture, with frequent tastings, industry news, and entertaining banter. Episodes mix beer reviews (including non-alcoholic options), nostalgia for classic styles, and pop culture tangents like gaming, wrestling, and movies, all delivered with improvisational humor and witty commentary. A standout is the lighthearted yet occasionally pointed take on industry trends, sponsorships, and evolving beer formats, which helps potential listeners decide if the show's irreverent vibe and beer-centric banter fit their tastes.
