  • Great podcast!

I found Bonnie 6 years ago when I homeschooled during Covid. My kids, since then, moved on to regular school but I still listen to this podcast and appreciate Bonnie’s wisdom.

  • Disappointed in Depression Episode

Was eager for answers on your homeschooling with depression episode and couldn’t finish it because the guest was so unprofessional. I’m sorry but it’s rude to have your dog in the room with you when you are going to be interviewed for a podcast. Couldn’t get past the barking and her casually laughing through the whole thing like she wasn’t taking it seriously. A majority of it should have been edited out.

  • Joyful, peaceful Family Life Inspiration

This podcast has been and continues to be a huge encouragement. I had never considered homeschooling, but after giving birth to my 1st child five years ago, doing life together at home just makes so much sense and is incredibly fulfilling. I don’t know any other women who have kept their babies home with them past the age of one, and live in a culture where homeschooling is perceived negatively. The care of Mother in the home is undervalued and even often considered something to pity. It is not ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Beyond the Front Door: Embracing Nature for a Happier and Healthier Family - an interview with author Josée Bergeron
Q: What practical tips would you give for a parent who feels too burned out to start outdoors?
Start with tiny steps and choose mood-boosting, simple rituals—like stepping onto the porch with a baby, tending a small garden, or listening for birds. The key is to be curious, not perfect, and to let the pace be guided by the child and the moment, which makes outdoor time sustainable and joyful.
Beyond the Front Door: Embracing Nature for a Happier and Healthier Family - an interview with author Josée Bergeron
Q: What does the book structure look like and how can a busy parent use it without feeling overwhelmed?
The book has a strong story-driven first section about my experience, followed by four seasonally organized sections with micro topics. It's designed so parents can jump in at any season or life stage, using practical, small steps rather than turning nature into a strict curriculum.
my take on it: doing this with a new baby part two :)
Q: How do I balance homeschooling with a new baby and a busy household while still giving attention to my other children?
Maintain simple, predictable routines, keep younger children within view during activities, and focus on short, meaningful interactions like daily walks, read-alouds, and shared chores to keep learning integrated into life.
my take on it: doing this with a new baby part two :)
Q: If I start kindergarten with her this fall, is it enough to keep doing what I'm doing?
Yes, continue with your current approach and expectations; your daily activities and conversations already constitute meaningful learning, and you can adjust gradually as needed without rushing to formal curricula.
my take on it: should I homeschool?
Q: hello. I would love for you to talk about or send me the episode that talks about how to discern homeschooling.
The host encourages discernment and timing, highlighting that this is a thoughtful question best explored with prayer, discussion with a partner, and considering the family's calling before committing to homeschooling.
