Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Nordic Compounder Playbook: How Lagercrantz Bought 90 Companies and Never Sold One
Q: What makes the 85 autonomous companies work as a single ecosystem?
A light-touch centralized framework with strong local leadership, shared board-level governance, annual MD conferences, and deliberate structure to add energy and ambition while preserving core strengths and brands.
The Nordic Compounder Playbook: How Lagercrantz Bought 90 Companies and Never Sold One
Q: How do you maintain pricing discipline amid a PE-driven market?
Prices have remained fairly stable; we finance the flywheel internally, avoid capital raises, and use conservative multiples (4-8x EBITDA) with earn-outs to align incentives across generations.
The Nordic Compounder Playbook: How Lagercrantz Bought 90 Companies and Never Sold One
Q: Jörgen, how are you doing today?
I'm doing well, thanks for having me; happy to discuss Lagercrantz's model and experiences in the Nordics.
M&A Integration Technology: What Actually Works
Q: How do you ensure you scale due diligence and integration work with limited resources across multiple deals?
Treat it like a sales pipeline, prioritize the right stakeholders early, and keep a core set of dedicated resources for core functions (HR, GTM, finance). Maintain clear sponsor alignment and avoid overloading teams by staging involvement and ensuring leaders stay engaged throughout the process.
400 Acquisitions and a Failed Process: What Happens When You Don't Integrate
Q: Can you walk me through that framework and then maybe where even the integration thinking fits in?
The framework centers on four key criteria—strategic, financial, operational, and data readiness—with culture as a binary gate. Once past culture, integration considerations show up early in the pre-LOI phase, led by our integration leader and functional area owners, to evaluate how readiness will affect integration. We underwrite to a 90-day integration timeline, ensuring a continuous path from LOI to full integration, with a focus on the organic growth components and cross-sell potential that sustain value post-close.
