  • Getting ready for hoops season

First of all, thank you for putting so much content out there about MSU sports. I tuned in for the first time in a while as it’s been a long year as a Michigan State football fan, and I was looking forward to turning the page and hearing a little excitement about hoops, after going to the first game against Colgate. Yes the basketball team has things to work on, but as a Michigan State fan, the team has a couple exciting freshmen, pretty good returning core, and I think fans in general are ready... more

  • Solid

A very die hard fan as a host. I am also die hard but not as biased as Matt is. I wish he would be more realistic at times. This basketball team could go 6-5 just as easily as 11-0 down the stretch. I think 7-4 is much more likely. There’s still obvious holes in this team which Matt heavily ignores. Great morale boost if you like to hype MSU up

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

WARNING SIGNS: MSU basketball MUST keep NDSU from shooting hot; Coen Carr the X-FACTOR for Spartans?
Q: North Dakota State, do they play zone defense at all?
They mix man-to-man with some trapping and aggressive half-court pressure, but are generally more traditional and tough man-to-man, with some blitzing in the half court.
FINAL FOUR: Can Tom Izzo’s Spartans BEAT the ODDS? Why Jeremy Fears is the key to Michigan State's run
Q: Where is the drop-off on this roster, and could MSU survive a longer rotation in a tight tournament schedule?
There is a noticeable gap between the starting five and the bench, which could be problematic in the NCAA tournament if foul trouble or fatigue bites, but Izzo's ability to maximize role players could mitigate some of that risk.
FINAL FOUR: Can Tom Izzo’s Spartans BEAT the ODDS? Why Jeremy Fears is the key to Michigan State's run
Q: Evan, how far do you actually see Michigan State going in March here?
MSU is a dangerous, well-connected team that could advance deep into the tournament, potentially threatening for a Final Four given their cohesion and Fears' impact, though seed and matchup dynamics will heavily influence how far they can realistically go.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: MSU basketball guard Jeremy Fears deserves Big Ten's best with HISTORIC stats
Q: Who should win the Big Ten Player of the Year according to the hosts?
The hosts lean toward Jeremy Fears as the front-runner given his production, efficiency, and critical role in MSU's success, while acknowledging other contenders and the season's remaining games.
INSTANT REACTION: MSU basketball earns WIN OF THE YEAR at Purdue; Is Tom Izzos team back to ROLLING?
Q: Did Michigan State win this game or did Purdue lose this game?
Michigan State went in there and won this basketball game.
