  • Meh

Pros and cons with this one. I’ll start with the good. Jack is a good host. He’s knowledgeable and clearly loves this team. Having a regular source of Royals talk is good, and he’s good with being up front if the schedule is going to change.

Unfortunately, those positives are washed out by the negatives. Jack seems hesitant, scared, or unwilling to call out the coaching staff, front office, or ownership. I can chalk this up to his position as a reporter but it’s a bit tiring.

  • Questions

I’m wondering, when do think Salvador Perez will retire. And if Bobby Witt Jr were to be traded where to and for how much and why? By the way my name is Jacob.

  • Consistent and knowledgeable

This podcast is hard to evaluate. Jack, the main host is pretty solid. However Chance, who hosts the post game pods (which show up in the same feed) , is inarticulate, regularly unprepared, and out of the 5 of his I listened to, in 4 of them it appeared as though he did not even watch the game.

Jack does a good job following off-season content, but I am done with the in season pods.

Use this for mailbag Friday pls:

Wacha and Lugo were really good, and so was the bullpen. Now our pitching is the problem. What happened?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What path the Kansas City Royals need to choose
Q: Can the United States make sure we don't have Blue Jays starting at every position in the All-Star Game?
The host notes that there are many Blue Jays in the All-Star selections due to fan voting, suggesting it's not always the most deserving players but rather popularity and votes.
Where the Kansas City Royals go from here
Q: Do the Royals need to spend big to compete, or can they win with a draft-and-develop approach?
A balanced approach is suggested: spend enough to be competitive and acquire a true number-one starter if possible, but emphasize drafting and development to sustain long-term success, avoiding overreliance on high-risk free-agent contracts.
Where the Kansas City Royals go from here
Q: Should the Royals tear it all down?
The host believes tearing it all down is not necessarily the right path, arguing that a franchise can remain competitive year after year with the right aggressive offseason moves, even if the current core is not meeting expectations.
Where the Kansas City Royals go from here
Q: With the injuries, what return could we even expect from a guy like Regan's?
The consensus is that Regan's value is impacted by the 60-day IL, making a return window unclear, so the Royals should consider potentially moving pitching depth and focus on trading for arms and affordable young players rather than relying on a quick-regained value from Regan's in the near term.
Another rough road series
Q: When should this team start looking at making a trade?
The host explains that trades are a mutual step and that early-season deals depend on both sides' willingness to negotiate; a practical approach is to target incremental upgrades, such as bullpen help, by June if the market is favorable and there's a clear fit.
