  • Meh

Pros and cons with this one. I’ll start with the good. Jack is a good host. He’s knowledgeable and clearly loves this team. Having a regular source of Royals talk is good, and he’s good with being up front if the schedule is going to change.

Unfortunately, those positives are washed out by the negatives. Jack seems hesitant, scared, or unwilling to call out the coaching staff, front office, or ownership. I can chalk this up to his position as a reporter but it’s a bit tiring.

  • Questions

I’m wondering, when do think Salvador Perez will retire. And if Bobby Witt Jr were to be traded where to and for how much and why? By the way my name is Jacob.

  • Consistent and knowledgeable

This podcast is hard to evaluate. Jack, the main host is pretty solid. However Chance, who hosts the post game pods (which show up in the same feed) , is inarticulate, regularly unprepared, and out of the 5 of his I listened to, in 4 of them it appeared as though he did not even watch the game.

Jack does a good job following off-season content, but I am done with the in season pods.

Wacha and Lugo were really good, and so was the bullpen. Now our pitching is the problem. What happened?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Final days before the Trade Deadline
Q: Dave asks about bullpen strategies and how Royals could duplicate small-market bullpen success without overpaying for relievers.
The host argues for a strategic overhaul of the bullpen and leveraging one-year deals and internal development to find reliable arms, emphasizing that retooling the bullpen has historically been possible and could reset the team's competitive floor without overcommitting to expensive relievers.
The Trade Deadline is getting closer
Q: What kind of players should the Royals target at the deadline?
The panel suggests targets who are MLB-ready but outside the big-name top prospects, focusing on players with solid AAA numbers who could contribute in the second half or provide depth for 2027, rather than high-profile, frontline pieces.
What the Royals need to do by the Trade Deadline
Q: Do you think the Royals should trade Michael Walker at the trade deadline?
Yes, trading Walker is seen as a smart move to bring back multiple pitchers or prospects, as his value is high and his performance may not continue at peak levels; keeping him could risk missing out on better long-term returns.
What the Royals need to do by the Trade Deadline
Q: What is the record at the end of the season?
The host predicts the team could reach around 70 wins in the season while acknowledging it may depend on bolstering the rotation and staying healthy, and he expects improvements in the second half with possible additions at the deadline.
The Kansas City Royals gear up for the second half
Q: What is your take on teams doing deferred money, and should it be allowed or not?
The host is skeptical of deferred money, using Shohei Ohtani as a prime example of how it can create long-term competitive imbalances and complicate labor relations; overall, he leans against continuing or expanding deferred contracts.
