  • 100% Royals

Like that the podcast is 100% Royals focused and that Jack is a fan who watches the games. He knows the players, gives his honest opinion of things and involves the fans with Friday mailbags. Lot of commercial time each episode but they have to pay the bills somehow. And might benefit from a guest or two to change it up a bit. Overall, enjoy the shows

  • Locked on

Jack’s podcast is my favorite Royals podcast. He’s very interactive with his listeners, has a day dedicated to questions, “mailbag Friday” and answers them all. He almost always answers comments on twitter and reacts to comments. He’s positive which I like, and also does not blow smoke, when the Royals are deserving of criticism. Very balanced and knowledgeable in my opinion.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Could the Royals be turning a corner?
Q: Are they ever going to fire the hitting coach?
Not likely in the near term. While there's debate about the coaching approach, the offense has shown improvement and there isn't evidence of a direct player-coach disconnect that would justify replacing the hitting coach at this point.
Takeaways from the first six games
Q: What improvements do you want to see from the 7, 8, and 9 hole hitters and how do they impact overall offensive performance?
The host highlights that the bottom of the order has quietly contributed to keeping the offense afloat, emphasizing patience and solid at-bats from those slots, which helps reduce volatility and supports overall run production when the top of the lineup is hot.
Takeaways from the first six games
Q: There is a question about whether the Royals should cut Falter and Lang in favor of Avila and Burgert, given recent struggles.
The host explains the practical constraints around roster moves, including minor league options and the need to preserve depth, suggesting changes would depend on long-term upside and injury status rather than a knee-jerk reaction to a few poor outings.
Takeaways from the first six games
Q: A fan asks about the ideal bullpen setup and who should be the closer if Estevez returns or if Ersig should close.
The host leaning toward using Ersig in high-leverage late-innings if he continues to perform, but also acknowledging flexibility based on how the rest of the bullpen performs; he mentions potential closers like Estevez and Mears depending on current form and health.
Takeaways from the first six games
Q: Shane and Megan ask whether Kyle Isbell is in line for All-Star consideration if he maintains his pace and the Royals keep performing well.
The host suggests that Isbell's elite defense combined with strong offensive output could push him into the All-Star conversation, especially if he sustains a high batting average and contributes consistency, but he also notes the need for continued production across the lineup to support a likely All-Star bid.
