  • Tanking sucks

I like the podcast but there is too much focus on tanking. Tanking is no fun for a season ticket holder or true fan. Actively trying to lose is depressing and not worthy of a sport or the athletes. And it’s a lottery anyway so they are just incrementally increasing chance to get a high pick that might not work out. If next season is another season where they actively trying to tank, I’m out. Just not fun. Fans and players deserve better.

  • Lifelong Nets fan - good listen!

Good listen, lifelong Nets fan living in Chicago. Now that they’re not a good team and never on national TV it can be hard to keep up so really appreciate this podcast and the consistency with how often they’re posting. Just got league pass and as bad as they are always excited to keep up.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

ANALYST: What Is Brooklyn Nets' FALLBACK Plan If They FALL In Lottery? Fastest Route To Contention?
Q: What is the fastest path to contention for the Nets if they don't land a top pick?
The host suggests a star trade as the fastest route, while acknowledging fan interest in a top pick; both paths are discussed with caution about timing, asset cost, and the potential of pairing a top prospect with additional pieces.
ANALYST: Why NBA's Proposed Tanking Solution Would Be MAJOR MISTAKE | How Brooklyn Nets Could Benefit
Q: What is your opinion on the three anti-tanking solutions currently proposed by the NBA?
I think none of them are viable; they are too convoluted and would incentivize worse outcomes, especially for small-market teams. The best path, in my view, is to revert to the old lottery odds to restore parity and reduce tanking incentives.
PROGRESS: Why Brooklyn Nets' Season Has Been A SUCCESS Despite League-Worst Record | Paving A Path
Q: Given that MPJ's ascension and the Nets hopefully having top three lottery odds, do you consider the season a success?
Yes, the season can be viewed as a success in terms of draft positioning, rookies' development, and asset value, even if the team is not winning at a high rate. The top-three lottery odds and the emergence of players like Yegor, MPJ, and Noah Clowney support a constructive view of the season.
SLEEPER: Would Brooklyn Nets TARGET Keaton Wagler Over Darius Achuff, Kingston Flemings With 5th Pick?
Q: If the Nets fall to five, how would it affect their ability to trade up or down and what would be required?
The consensus was that trading into the top three would be costly and unlikely, while there could be potential for movement into the late first if favorable assets and conditions align, but not guaranteed.
SLEEPER: Would Brooklyn Nets TARGET Keaton Wagler Over Darius Achuff, Kingston Flemings With 5th Pick?
Q: Which draft player outside of the top four do you think the Nets would most likely see fitting their vision?
They discussed Flemings and Wagler as the most plausible fits, with Achuff not fitting the traditional Nets mold based on past targets, though he has been impressive lately.
