  • Excessive and poorly edited ads ruin the experience

I love the interviews but the Stone Goddard one had ads that jumped in and interrupted in the MIDDLE OF AN ANSWER. 2 minutes of talking then 2 minutes of jammed in ads. Unlistenable! Space the ads out.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sawyer Hill
Q: What's a moment from touring or creating that stands out to you?
He recounts moments on stage with prominent peers, the energy of crowds in places like Salt Lake City, and the sense of awe when a cover or collaboration pays off, highlighting how live moments can reaffirm an artist's direction and motivation.
Sawyer Hill
Q: What does the album title Everybody's Home, Nobody's Happy convey to you?
It reflects a paradox about modern abundance and unhappiness, suggesting that even with technological and societal abundance, genuine contentment is elusive; the record uses autobiographical storytelling to explore these tensions across personal, familial, and societal realms.
Sawyer Hill
Q: Can you talk about the process behind your latest record and working with Mike Crossley?
Sawyer says the new record felt personal and unfiltered, with Mike Crossley giving space for Sawyer to express his vision while still refining the arrangements, emphasizing a balance between raw songs written in a bedroom and polished studio layers.
Sawyer Hill
Q: What was it like growing up in Arkansas and making music there before moving to LA?
He describes local scenes in Fayetteville, opportunities like veg restaurant gigs and rough venues, and the challenge of breaking out of a small-town ecosystem, which ultimately pushed him to relocate and pursue broader opportunities while maintaining ties to his roots.
Sawyer Hill
Q: How did your early religious upbringing influence your music and lyrics?
Sawyer explains that the strict Pentecostal environment shaped his view of fear, performance, and storytelling, later transforming into direct, simple lyrics drawn from personal experiences with faith, doubt, and family. He notes that the emotional intensity of his upbringing informs both the mood and the accessibility of his songs.
