Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why Gary Wolstenholme’s Amateur Golf Records Are Unmatched...
Q: Absolutely, and Gary, we need to ask, I mean, how did it all start for you in golf? Really, where did the passion come from?
It started with genetics and family influence, especially my father's background in golf, but also my grandmother and early lessons; golf gave me an identity and a purpose when other paths seemed uncertain.
How Druids Golf Went From Underdog to Industry Disruptor
Q: Why emphasize affordability and direct-to-consumer, and how has that shaped growth?
They discuss the need to remove the middleman, deliver better value, and avoid compromising on quality. The conversation highlights the Ambassador Pack as a key driver of growth, the push to make kids and women's lines available at lower price points, and the goal of creating a brand that resonates with the average golfer rather than chasing elite endorsements.
How Druids Golf Went From Underdog to Industry Disruptor
Q: Where did the brand come from and what's the story behind Druids?
Kevin explains the Irish roots, the shift from selling caps and towels with one embroidery machine, to building a wholesale network, and then pivoting to online to reach a broader audience during Covid. Tim adds that the team's diverse backgrounds across the islands helped create a startup mentality and a culture of being disruptors who prioritize accessibility and affordability in golf.
Tiger Woods Tales - Alan Tait’s Unforgettable Days
Q: What was going through your mind when you knew you could contend after a four-shot lead?
I focused on not letting ground be lost, trusted the form, and tried to keep a steady rhythm, believing the big course would respond if I kept it simple and played my game.
How to build YOUR OWN Launch Monitor - Coleman Rollins - Linked By Golf
Q: How close is the data quality to established commercial monitors?
The initial readings for club head speed and ball speed are promising, with data that compares favorably to some consumer systems and approaching top-tier performance, though ultimate accuracy for carry distance still requires additional fusion of launch angle and spin data.
