We know ghosts aren't real, but what is real is the way our brains make us imagine the creepy things that go bump in the night. What about our psychology makes it so easy to be spooked? And we've all heard of costumes and pumpkin carving, but what ar... more
Wait... ELLA is doing a math topic?? Not only that but she finds the beauty in searching for answers among the toughest math problems. Then, friend of the show Ellen Weatherford takes us through a tour of video game controllers. My favorite is the- w... more

The trio are such fun but I became increasingly annoyed. The biggest issue was the wholesale dismissal of thinking of prior generations. For instance, psychological research, especially the earlier years is treated as completely without merit. By describing social science research based on a news article written using a university public relations office they get horribly distorted views of what was actually found. By not reading the primary source you end up misrepresenting or distorting the ra... more
I was first introduced by Tom’s YouTube at the beginning and then reintroduced through Lateral a year later. I love every single moment whether it’s Tom’s terrific jokes (“comedy” should make a comeback) or “qwaso” during ads for this week’s sponsor, Wild Grain. Ella, Tom, and Caroline have such great chemistry as hosts that is so hard to replicate. It’s no wonder Ella, the strongest, smartest, handsomest host, doesn’t simply eat the other two. I enjoy sharing the facts that I learn from the pod... more

Secondly, I wanted to mention that in Judaism, rainbows are seen as a sign of God’s covenant after Noah’s flood to never do a flood like that again, but also as a reminder that the world could have been destroyed for its sins.
I apologize, but I would never have bumped into this delightful podcast if it weren’t for their frequent guest appearances on Lateral with Tom Scott.
That said, I am so happy I decided to check this one out.
I have always enjoyed science edu-tainers, and I’m glad that these 3 are sharing their thirst for knowledge with all of us.
Still catching up with early episodes, but road trip binges are on the horizon.
This show saved me!! I found LLE when the trio were on the Project for Awesome. I had just moved to a new city by myself for work and I knew no one. I was in a mostly empty apartment, just my folding chair, card table and airmattress. The podcast helped fill my apartment with joy and science facts. It’s like having 3 friends who come to chat with me about all their weird facts and recent obsessions. I would then use the cool facts I learned on the show to break the ice with other people so that ... more
