  • What a terrific podcast!

How good is David Marr? No topic is off limits, he’s afraid of nothing or no-one. Forthright, very knowledgeable & independent with interesting subjects every night. He tells things as they really are which makes a refreshing change from the media. ABC did well with their choice

  • Barry Jones is numinous

How good is the 2026 Barry Jones episode?! The brilliance that pours out of the man continues into the 9th decade! Makes me wistful for visionary politicos in an era of shallow sloganeers that infests Australian politics presently. Thank you, this is an episode to cherish.

  • Condescending 78-year-old interviewer

David Marr’s interview with Chris Hedges on 21 October is a worthwhile listen. It can’t be unheard.

If you like what Marr is doing in the interview, then keep on listening to this podcast.

On the other hand, if you occasionally listen to Marr and find his interview approach somewhat exasperating, then his interview with Hedges is definitely worth the listen. It is so excruciatingly bad.

Listening to the interview has been very validating. It’s unfortunate Marr has dropped to such lows.

David Marr is a very worthy presenter following in the footsteps of Philip Adams. Erudite , very witty and intelligent. I wished he was still on Insiders on Sunday mornings . Absolutely love his work .

The episode explains that this year's rains have been exceptionally large and persistent, with widespread river flow and lake formation, potentially leading to an overflow for the first time in decades, which is unprecedented in living memory.
Does Australia's culture of remembrance need updating?
Q: How should the War Memorial adapt its language and inclusion of frontier conflicts and other voices without losing its core purpose?
The Memorial must broaden dialogue with diverse constituencies, properly acknowledge frontier conflicts, and ensure a balance between historical accuracy and the emotional resonance of national remembrance, even if that means renegotiating traditions that have been long established.
Does Australia's culture of remembrance need updating?
Q: What do you see as the challenges to the way in which we will celebrate Anzac Day in the near future?
The main challenge is demographic: a more diverse Australia with fewer direct family links to the great wars, which means the rituals must become more inclusive and less centered on one religious or traditional framework, while still preserving meaning and reflection.
