  • Great Content…

But the audio quality needs work. The speakers have different volume levels and sound distant.

I think they can improve the podcast experience. The host doesn't have the best voice for a podcast. Remember that you already have a good image, and you have to be consistent with who you are.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Subclinical Primary Aldosteronism and eGFR Decline
Q: What is the main finding about subclinical aldosterone excess and kidney function?
Higher ARR and renal-independent aldosterone production were associated with faster GFR decline, independent of traditional hypertension or measured aldosterone alone, suggesting the regulatory context of aldosterone is more important than its absolute level.
PD Use in Health Service Areas, 2009–2020
Q: Did the new patients entering PD post-2011 have worse outcomes, such as higher technique failure or mortality?
No. The data showed that newer PD patients did not have worse outcomes; mortality, technique failure, and peritonitis rates did not worsen and, in some measures like peritonitis, improved, suggesting that expanding access did not compromise safety or effectiveness.
PD Use in Health Service Areas, 2009–2020
Q: What were the main geographic patterns observed in PD use from 2011 to 2020?
Initially, high-use PD areas were more rural and wealthier with less diversity, while low-use areas were more urban and diverse. By 2020, many low-use areas had moved into medium/high-use categories, indicating a regional leveling of PD uptake though some regional disparities persisted.
PD Use in Health Service Areas, 2009–2020
Q: Can you remind our listeners what incentives were introduced and who they were designed to influence?
The incentives aimed to bundle payments to dialysis units and create equity between PD and hemodialysis, targeting changes at dialysis organizations and units to promote home-based PD and overall access rather than simply increasing payments to patients or facilities.
ASN Kidney Translation Series: ASN Kidney Health Guidance on Conservative Management in People with Kidney Failure
Q: What exactly is conservative management in advanced CKD?
Conservative management is a patient-centered, holistic approach for people with stage four or five CKD who choose not to pursue dialysis, prioritizing quality of life and tailoring care to individual goals and values.
