新型コロナで世の中が一変した2020年が暮れ、NHKの『ゆく年くる年』では延暦寺からも中継がありました。私自身、昨年は体調を崩したこともあり、今年は心機一転、法華経の写経に挑戦することに。そこで今回はご住職に法華経の写経について伺いました。（鳩胸厚子） more
先日、ご住職の案内で「比叡の秋めぐり2020」をしてきました。現在、西塔・釈迦堂の内陣特別公開、西塔・瑠璃堂の特別御開扉、国宝殿での「比叡の不動明王展」の最中なので、そのご紹介を少し。それから前回、天台宗の戒律「円頓戒」の話を伺った際に出てきた「円頓章」について、詳しいお話を伺いました。話は摩訶止観やら法華経やら般若心経へとどんどん広がっていきますが…さて。
奈良仏教の（具足戒という）250の戒律を、伝教大師最澄は58の（円頓戒という）戒律に変えてしまいました。今回はこの天台宗の戒律について、お話を伺いました。円頓戒は、修行をまっとうするための戒律であるようです。比叡山での四種三昧の修行を引き合いに、具体的に教えていただきました。
きょうは、前回のテーマ『一隅を照らす』という言葉が書かれている伝教大師最澄の『山家学生式』について伺いました。これは最澄が朝廷に提出した比叡山の「学習指導要領」のようなものだとのこと。天台宗の僧侶はもちろん、延暦寺で修行する僧侶は誰もがまず頭に入れるべき指針です。最澄さんは、この『山家学生式』で、それまでの奈良仏教でたくさん定めてあった戒律を一気に激減させ、これが奈良との衝突の大きな原因となったのだとか。なぜ、激減させたのか…この点は、次回さらに詳しく伺いたいと思います。
前回から少し時間が過ぎてしまいました。この間、私はなぜか「一隅を照らす」という言葉に遭遇する機会が何度もありました。そこで、今回は伝教大師最澄のこの言葉についてご住職にお話を伺うことに。この言葉に至る話の中で、法華経はもともとは国分尼寺で尼僧さんたちが読んでいたものだと知りました。毎回、新しいことを知ることができて、ありがたいです。 more
今回は天台宗の僧侶がどのようにお経を習得していくか、伺いました。お経の読み方は、実際に僧侶の読経を聞いて学ぶしかないようですが、地域や法要によって、同じお経でも読み方が違う場合も多々あるのだとか。今回のお話に出てきた耳慣れない言葉に、「句頭（くとう）」（最初の一文を読むこと）、「解行双修（げぎょうそうしゅう）」というものがありました。比叡山の千日回峰行は、実際は975日しか歩かないのだというお話も興味深かったです。次回は、ちょっとマニアックなお経について訊いてみたいと思います。 more
