今回は「悲しみが残っていてほしいと思う心」について考えます。
考えるきっかけは、俳優アンドリュー・ガーフィールドさんの言葉でした。
「この悲しみは、表現しきれなかった愛なんです。」
大切な人との別れの中で生まれる後悔や寂しさ。
それは愛が足りなかった証ではなく、
愛が終わらない証なのかもしれません。
仏教では「愛別離苦（あいべつりく）」という言葉で、
愛する人と別れなければならない苦しみを説きます。
考えてみたいと思います。
日曜学校で子どもたちと焼き芋を作っていた時のこと。
「便利だけど危ないものって何があるかな？」
そんな問いかけに、子どもたちは
「火！」
「水！」
「ハンマー！」
と次々に答えてくれました。
そんな中、一人の子が言ったのです。
「仏さま！」
思わず聞き返してしまったその答え。
日曜学校が終わった後も、私はずっとその言葉について考えていました。
仏さまは便利なのでしょうか。
仏さまは危ないのでしょうか。

今回はジャータカ物語から、「森の神々の友情」というお話をご紹介します。
私たちはつい、「もっと力があれば」「もっと能力があれば」と思いがちです。
