お釈迦様には、ラーフラという一人息子がいました。
ラーフラが生まれて間もなく、悟りを求めて故郷を離れたシッダールタ太子。そして長い年月を経て、仏となった父と、その息子が再会します。
母ヤショーダラーに「父から財産を譲ってもらいなさい」と言われたラーフラ。しかし、お釈迦様が息子に譲ろうとしたのは、金銀財宝ではありませんでした。
ラーフラの出家、そしてそのことを知った祖父シュッドーダナ王の悲しみから生まれた、教団の一つの決まり。
今回は、お釈迦様とその家族をめぐる物語をご紹介します。
