JoR quickly became my comfort podcast. First of all because of how it talks about the supernatural - not something evil or necessarily harmful, just another part of the world. The overall kind attitude became the key factor for me, it helps with my own mood. Plus it's nice to see familiar urban legends! I also like that it touches upon a lot of topics relatable for me and the way it does that: neurodivergence, anxiety, gender, sexuality, relationship with people - all these are smoothly woven in... more
This supernatural slice of life and mystery story follows a person with amnesia who must work with an organization investigating cryptids to regain his memories. There's an interesting reveal in season 1 that re-contextualizes previous episodes and explains the main character's immortality. The small town setting enhances the unsettling Midwestern gothic elements; cryptids are drawn from Midwestern lore. The audio quality is ok. Much of the story is told through the main character's diary entr... more
Dr Jared investigates strange supernatural creatures, while at the same time dealing with social anxiety and amnesia. The story unfolds through his recorded journals – part of the therapy to help him recover his memory. An oddly compelling story which gets more and more intriguing the further you go into it. I admire how this story manages to merge fantasy with confessions of everyday anxiety, which most of us, at some level, can relate to.
This podcast ticks pretty much all boxes for me.
Horror? Yep.
Queerness? So much.
Neurodivergence? Oh yes.
I really enjoyed the episodes that are out and am willing to sacrifice ADHD meds and ice cream to whichever entity can make more happen!
Jared is a wonderful character! I'm just as invested in their day-to-day almost as much of the overarching plot. The town of Wichton has such a personality, and the entities and anomalies build up the world around Jared. I'm excited for more to come!
Stunning! Love the inclusion and the story and our favourite disaster queer <3
This podcast is fantastic. Not a long listen, I finished S1 in a work day, but the vibes are immaculate and the story is well thought out and creative. I had a lot of fun listening and am excited to head into season 2. (Also as a grad student, how Dr. Hel talks about working at The Enclosure and how The Enclosure acts toward him and Wichton really feels like just regular academia which I enjoyed even if it wasn’t intentional)
This podcast pulls you in during the very first episode and never lets go. Each episode leaves you wanting for more. It's reminiscent of SCP, but with its own unique charm and humor. It has a talented group of artists and actors working behind the scenes to bring these well-developed characters to life in a gripping story. I highly recommend giving it a listen ASAP!
Amazing concept, great format and really loved the main character
What the heck is the deal with these bad reviews?! I love this lil small town, gender affirming show! Amazing, talented, diverse cast. Cool, spooky mysteries. What’s not to love!
A beautiful gem of a podcast, has elements of the world of the SCP foundation and WTNV. Lots of cryptids and queer folks!
An American/midwestern gothic dream. Really captured the feel of living in a town that has a general “if you saw it no you didn’t” respect for the supernatural. The beginning episodes especially have the vibe of early classic audio dramas, but with a shiny new plot and premise.
I'm not gonna lie, I started to listen to this podcast as prep for an interview with Casper: the friggin GENIUIS behind it.
I had no idea what was in store for me.
That's a lie. I kinda knew. The reason I was interviewing them was because of the fan devotion they had for the podcast. I should be more careful starting a new podcast on a weekday. The things I didn't get done that day! oi.

I've been listening to this since Pilot. The Rebukers cast and crew are a gaggle of incredibly talented and creative folx. And don't get me started on the awesome shenanigans had by all! Anywho, this podcast is *chefs kiss*. It's uber queer. It sucker punches you in the feels. And it's sooo relatable when it comes to exploring yourself as a person! I've never listened to a podcast where it's 100% queer characters throughout. And I enjoy trying to figure out what the hecc is happening! ^^;; I hig... more
A fun podcast that I'm glad I was told about when it just started, because now I really can't wait to know what will happen in the next episodes. There is some obvious inspiration by popular horror works (SCP Foundation and Welcome to Night Vale to name a few), and if you enjoyed any of those -or any kind of gothic horror-, I can't recommend Jar of Rebuke highly enough. Dr Jared is such sweet and charming character... considering the plot of Jar of Rebuke, he might be one of the few safe havens ... more
