It was lovely to hear your tribute episode for the recently departed Malcolm Butler. I became a friend of Malc’s when I moved to Cornwall some 20 years ago. As a result I attended many Cobblers away trips to the likes of Plymouth, Exeter, Torquay and Bristol Rovers. We loved the irony of being congratulated for travelling so far to see the team! It was my pleasure to be on the pitch at Exeter City for the promotion celebration and share Malc’s joy! We were planning Exeter away in 2 weeks time. M... more

  • Good podcast. You have to put up with a bit of Danny's lefty virtue signalling and snide political comments every so often, but generally a fun listen.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Brazilians or Brazilians? And unpopular opinions | MAILBAG
Q: What are your best unpopular opinions concerning the Cobblers?
The hosts elaborate that direct football is more effective for the club than tippy-tappy play, and there's support for embracing a take-no-prisoners leadership style in the dressing room. They also debate the value of signing characters with edge and the long-term sustainability of aggressive recruitment strategies.
Life After Kevin Nolan Starts With Burton Albion At Home | THE PREVIEW SHOW
Q: What are the odds of Northampton escaping relegation given the current fixtures?
The discussion centers on taking it one game at a time and leveraging a favorable run of fixtures against fellow struggling teams, suggesting that any points from these games could make a significant difference in avoiding the bottom four.
Life After Kevin Nolan Starts With Burton Albion At Home | THE PREVIEW SHOW
Q: What impact do you expect from Colin Calderwood taking charge as interim manager?
Ed Walker and the hosts suggest that a new manager bounce is not guaranteed, but Calderwood could provide stability and a clearer direction if he can motivate the squad and implement effective setup, especially with the current injuries and lineup limitations.
What is Northampton Town’s Identity? | MAILBAG
Q: Should Ross Fitzsimmons be back in goal on Tuesday night?
There are arguments for sticking with Burge for consistency, but also for giving Fitzsimmons a chance if the defense needs stability; overall, the group leans toward continuity with Burge unless there are specific concerns about form.
The Volunteer Coaching Academy with Jamie Hustwait | 25 YEARS OF THE COMMUNITY TRUST SPECIAL
Q: What challenges did you overcome during the program and how did it change you?
Jamie discusses his cerebral palsy and how the VCA helped him become more confident, capable of leading sessions, and more determined to pursue goals.
