  • Really interesting, but skims the surface

Overall, I really enjoy this podcast. I like Chinny and Astrid and their style of storytelling, I love learning about countries less-often covered by media and I find the combination of serious history with lighthearted chat a good balance. My one complaint is just that the episodes are quite short. I always find myself wishing they’d gone into more detail on the topics. If this podcast tackled its main topic for, say, 50 minutes instead of 25, I think could be a genuinely amazing show.

  • Brilliant

This podcast shows the side of Africa that has been forgotten or purposely dismissed. It goes deep into the history of the continent, making it easier to understand why things are as they are. Keep up the work ladies your role models for my daughters. ❤️

  • Easy listening & great history - needs audio help tho

There's not too many podcasts that dig into the history of African countries and the diaspora in ways that are straightforward, interesting, and don't drag on — which is why this podcast stands out. Its lighthearted but has range and they don't necessarily get into too many rabbit holes that distract from the stories which I appreciate.

The only reason I'm not a more regular listener is that for as many episodes as they created they still seem to struggle hard with leveling out the audio 🥲. ... more

The Rise of African Queens & Warriors with Paula Akpan
