Bastien Fachan: Fashion, Fandom & the Big 3
Q: Is there anything about your book that really stands out to you or a section that was particularly difficult to write?
I am particularly proud of the foreword written by Tsitsipas, who provided his perspective on playing against the big three. He's the youngest player to beat all three.
Bastien Fachan: Fashion, Fandom & the Big 3
Q: Can you share a little about how you came up with the idea for your book?
The idea for the book came to me after Wimbledon 2021 when Djokovic tied the record of 20 slams. It was an extraordinary story that I wanted to tell, especially since it had not been done in France yet.
Bastien Fachan: Fashion, Fandom & the Big 3
Q: Can you talk a bit about your journey in the sport in a couple of minutes, so fans can get to know who they've got the pleasure of listening to?
I'm a 31-year-old tennis author, writer and social media freelancer. I've been passionate about tennis since I was a kid and started playing at age seven. I studied communications and marketing, which helped me find a career path within tennis.
Gill Gross: How Tennis is Really Analysed
Q: Where do you see the landscape of tennis media heading as an industry?
Gill mentions how he has experimented with short form content to reach audiences who may not watch longer videos, illustrating the evolving needs in sports media.
Gill Gross: How Tennis is Really Analysed
Q: How do you balance the analytics with the human element and storytelling?
Gill discusses the importance of connecting statistics to the human aspects of the game, emphasizing that numbers should inform a narrative rather than define it.
