Reviews

4.6 out of 5 stars from 30 ratings
  • When I see the number of subscribers according to Podcast Addict, then this podcast hasn't found its target audience yet. The interviewing professor is a competent podcast host, the guests are interesting. Given that my bandwith is limited, I will stick mostly to MLST and listen to this podcast occasionally.

[REPLAY] Conversation with JP Fricker, Cerebras
Q: What personal advice would you give to young people starting out in AI and hardware entrepreneurship?
Do what you like and do it with people you like; explore broadly, stick with a strong team, and don't chase money—focus on doing something meaningful and fun, because money will follow when you're pursuing the right goal.
[REPLAY] Conversation with JP Fricker, Cerebras
Q: What role did university collaboration and talent pipelines play in Cerebras' development, and what should Europe do to foster similar ecosystems?
Universities supplied trained engineers, state-of-the-art knowledge, and a steady stream of interns and researchers; a healthy ecosystem requires strong university-private sector collaboration, flexible incentives, and investors who can guide early-stage hardware startups just as much as fund them.
[REPLAY] Conversation with JP Fricker, Cerebras
Q: How important was the team and prior collaboration in securing funding and building credibility with VCs?
Extremely important; we sold the team and our prior track record, including relationships built from earlier ventures, and leveraged a CEO who could tell compelling stories to funders, which helped convert early interest into term sheets.
[REPLAY] Conversation with JP Fricker, Cerebras
Q: What was the core pivot in Cerebras' pitch that helped you convince investors to back a hardware startup in a software-dominated AI era?
We positioned a product that would be thousandfold faster than the best current GPUs, framing it as a complete, packaged solution with software abstractions, rather than detailing every chip design; this simplicity and audacious speed captured investor imagination and opened doors quickly.
Conversation with Eamonn Maguire, Proton
Q: Can you give us a sense of Proton, how it started, and its current scale?
Proton recently surpassed 100 million subscribers, significantly growing from the number mentioned on our website. The team currently has about 667 members across various locations, reflecting rapid year-on-year growth.
