  • A must-listen for young goalies—and their parents!

My 12-year-old, goalie-playing son and I have been listening for a year and a half now, and it’s hard for me to overstate how much we’ve learned about playing goalie (physically and mentally), as well as being a good goalie parent, from this podcast. The guest interviews and parent segments are especially fantastic, and we often go back and listen to old episodes, as those segments never go out of date. My son usually asks to listen during long drives to games and tournaments. Big thank you to D... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 332 with Kayle Osborne and Ian Clark
Q: Could you be another Devon Dubnik, chased out of Edmonton and then finds like an amazing home, one stop or two stops later in Minnesota?
The potential is there; it's a common narrative in goaltending development where talent can flourish in new environments.
Episode 332 with Kayle Osborne and Ian Clark
Q: What methods have you learned over the years to sort of manage those situations so you can be at your best?
Believe in yourself and trust the work you've put in prior to that; go out there and have fun.
Episode 330 with Kimberly Newell
Q: Have you changed anything in the way you train to achieve that physical ability to adapt?
I've started to practice in multiple ways and see what naturally emerges when I get into game situations. It's important to not just train in one single way.
Episode 330 with Kimberly Newell
Q: How did you start to ramp up for your return?
I managed to keep a somewhat relative level of fitness by playing beer league, but managing my workload between working and training was a lot. It was challenging to build that base off the ice, and then transferring that onto the ice was key.
Episode 330 with Kimberly Newell
Q: What brought you back to this side of it?
I think it all comes back to why I'm doing this in the first place. This time, now it's to represent my hometown of Vancouver, which is a growing up, like it just wasn't something that I ever thought would ever happen.
