  • A must-listen for young goalies—and their parents!

My 12-year-old, goalie-playing son and I have been listening for a year and a half now, and it’s hard for me to overstate how much we’ve learned about playing goalie (physically and mentally), as well as being a good goalie parent, from this podcast. The guest interviews and parent segments are especially fantastic, and we often go back and listen to old episodes, as those segments never go out of date. My son usually asks to listen during long drives to games and tournaments. Big thank you to D... more

Callum Tung: From Undrafted to the New York Rangers (Ep. 361)
Q: What was Callum Tung's path to turning pro after college?
Callum details a non-linear path from junior hockey to BCHL, NCAA at UConn, and then signing a three-year contract with the New York Rangers, followed by a move to Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL, highlighting late development and decisive career choices.
Episode 351: Tribute to John Garrett and an interview with Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Gabriel Daigle
Q: What has the transition to pro hockey been like for you so far?
Gabriel describes facing faster, smarter players, needing to play deeper, and adjusting mentally and technically to the pro level, including the increase in shots and the importance of maintaining composure.
Bruno-Pierre Guillemette: Montreal Victoire Goalie Coach & PWHL Champion
Q: How did Bruno-Pierre Guillemette get into coaching and reach the top level with Montreal Victoire?
BP shares that his entry was gradual and practical: starting in voluntary roles, soaking up knowledge at Intense Hockey with mentors, moving into junior AAA, Concordia, and then transitioning to full-time coaching with the PWHL, where his adaptability and willingness to learn from mentors helped him grow.
Episode 358 New York Islanders prospect Josh Kotai
Q: How did the opportunity with the Islanders come about, and was he actively pursuing pro opportunities at that time?
Kotai explains that after strong sophomore years and some NHL attention, he pursued opportunities while staying focused on his current season; the Islanders offered a contract after consistent performance and being a valued player on his team, with other teams showing interest but ultimately landing the opportunity with New York.
Episode 355: Brett Jaeger
Q: What was the key turning point in Brett Jaeger's transition from playing to coaching?
The shift happened gradually through structured mentorship and formalized coaching education, starting with learning from veteran coaches like Pasco and later formalizing it with German federation licensing, which laid the groundwork for his transition into coaching and consulting.
