  • Good episodes but some of the production needs some work.

Good info, I just wish they would turn off their mics when they aren’t talking and are on the discord or sneeze. When you listen with headphones it can be really distracting to hear keys typing in the background while the guest talks.

  • Not enough effort put in

I've listened to quite a few game development podcasts, so seeing one proclaiming to be one about gamedev business piqued my interest. Unfortunately, I think this podcast has a lot of room to improve. Here are some quick bullet points that hopefully the creators read:

Why Indies Should Care About Web Gaming | Romy Halfweeg, Poki
Q: Are in-app purchases on the Poki platform?
Currently no for Poki; analysis shows it doesn't make sense across their three audiences (players, developers, advertisers); future options could include platform-wide currencies or subscription models but not immediate.
Why Indies Should Care About Web Gaming | Romy Halfweeg, Poki
Q: What do you look for when deciding to bring a game onto Poki?
Fit for the audience, technical feasibility to hit sub-20MB, good loading and procedural loading, and category reality checks to avoid saturating the platform with similar titles; exclusivity and brand alignment are also considered.
Why Indies Should Care About Web Gaming | Romy Halfweeg, Poki
Q: Does Poki provide funding for developers?
Funding is possible in some cases, but usually initial deals are revenue-share and basic; upfront investments are not common for first games, with potential options expanding as partnerships grow.
Why Indies Should Care About Web Gaming | Romy Halfweeg, Poki
Q: How does Poki work with developers after a game is submitted?
Poki reviews the submission through a curation process, ensuring the game fits the audience and meets technical and category criteria; it's not a first-come, first-served upload. Once signed, Poki handles QA, marketing, and user acquisition, with a focus on long-term growth for revenue-share titles or license-based agreements.
Why Your Game Isn’t Getting Covered By Press | Mike Straw, Insider Gaming
Q: What should indie developers do to improve their chances of getting press coverage?
Developers should craft compelling hooks, provide demos or early access, maintain timely and responsive communication, use press kits, and build long-term relationships with journalists through structured CRMs and mutual introductions.
