  • Essential for newbies

This January, at 47, I decided to try acting. That same week I auditioned for a part in a local play and I ended up getting cast! Since then, I have been listening and re-listening to this incredible podcast. For anyone new to the craft of acting, this should be required listening and I’ve been hanging on every helpful and honest word. All the episodes are amazing but the episode with Matthew Macfadyen is sensational and I just listened to it again for the 5th time prior to a big rehearsal. Ful... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Seth Rogen
Q: Do you think your style and approach to making movies have been influenced by the movies you grew up with?
Yes, Seth acknowledged that his taste is shaped by the popular and critically successful films from his childhood, leading him to chase a balance of artistic and commercial success.
Seth Rogen
Q: What was it like for you to adjust to pressures of awards conversations after The Studio's success?
Seth responded that it was wonderful yet overwhelming, expressing that it added pressure to continue delivering successful work.
Ralph Ineson (Galactus, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps")
Q: What was it like to play Galactus in this current technological context, compared to your earlier experiences?
It's a different experience being involved at this level compared to what I've previously been involved in these big films. There's a nice buzz about being on these big movies because it's easier to make them because they've got a bit of money.
Ralph Ineson (Galactus, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps")
Q: Can you tell me a little bit more, not only about this process for unorthodox ways of thinking about Galactus, but how much that is part of your process and how you prepare for all roles?
I think a lot of preparation, certainly for me, I can't speak for all actors. These are kind of constructed daydreaming in a way. I didn't go out to those tunnels to drive through them, to imagine Galactus' thing. I just was on a boring seven-hour drive from London to Northern Italy, and spent a lot of time driving through these tunnels.
Cristin Milioti
Q: How did this Black Mirror experience come to you? How did you get involved in that?
That came out of the blue. I had shot, I had, I wrote a pilot, I guess now that's a year ago. Yeah, I wanted to ask you about that too.
