  • Terrific chat

Always enjoy Simon’s engaging interview style. The chat with Nicholas Hammond was wonderful. Didn’t realise a Sound of Music alum had done so much.

Just listened to Alan Menken. Fascinating, always loved his work.

My background is eighties Brit Pop, rather than “Fine Music” so I feared this Podcast would make me feel a bit ignorant and excluded. Instead I’m thoroughly enjoying my new musical journey and binge-listened the entire 2022 season over summer. Simon’s conversations with the guests are really that; warm, friendly, respectful and never too pushy. So many hosts make their Podcasts a vehicle for their own ego. Whilst extremely knowledgeable and often unashamedly a fan, Simon allows his guests room t... more

Sam Weller: The infinite possibilities of sound
Q: What do you think when you hear people speak of your work in such glowing terms?

Rupert Noffs: He’s just a Broadway baby
Q: How did the healing power of music influence your outlook on performance?
Rupert explains how singing and sharing songs with his mother during Alzheimer's brought memories to life and sparked a realization that performing could be a conduit for connection and healing for both him and his mother, guiding his later projects, including Sondheim-oriented shows.
Rupert Noffs: He’s just a Broadway baby
Q: What was the key moment that directed you toward an acting-singer career?
Rupert describes the pivotal experience of singing Being Alive to a large audience, which helped him realize his passion for acting and storytelling, leading him to pursue formal training (NIDA) rather than staying on the path of pure singing.

Q: Was it the kind of place that would only try and have one of each type of person, so they didn't have the same people going for the same things?
