As to your recent episode on voter pushback, thank you for asking us to be decent when are leaders are not. The unscrupulous can be bought on the cheap or exploited when convenient.

  • Rolling my Eyes

Listening to this episode on fertility rates, and this is absolutely conservative ideology packaged as something pseudo scientific. The premise that marriage and children are the source of happiness in life AND WHOLE SOCIETIES is absurd. Also it makes my skin crawl listening to this guy mansplain what women want and why they are having less babies. Fails to address the true social and economic strains that are influencing people’s decisions around family planning. Gross.

How populists turn distrust into power
Q: What are you most optimistic about, Richard?
He expresses optimism that despite the surge of populism, pluralistic institutions, a robust media, and the possibility of AI-assisted information processing can counter misinformation and restore trust, especially as democracies resist becoming permanently dysfunctional.
How populists turn distrust into power
Q: So before we get into the book, I want to understand where you think you sit politically today.
Hanania explains that he began with a liberal-conservative mix, moved away from nativist fringe ideas, and now identifies as a classical liberal with a strong anti-populist streak, shaped by observing how populism has evolved and influenced conservative movements.
What happened when fashion moved online
Q: Can you tell us about what it was like taking a brick and mortar store onto the Internet?
It started as exciting and terrifying; designers underestimated online selling, but the loyal Macy's customer proved to be the core online audience, and the experience revealed how much customers value convenience and 24-7 access.
Why $1 million doesn’t feel rich for Gen Z
Q: What could be done on a national level to help Gen Z feel more in control of the future?
Policies such as housing market reforms and more permissive permitting, along with careful tax reform, particularly estate tax adjustments, could help; but individuals must also take proactive steps to build skills and financial resilience.
Why $1 million doesn’t feel rich for Gen Z
Q: What should someone who wants to build wealth do?
Start with investing in your own talents, focus on skills that are monetizable, save and invest in productive assets like low-cost index funds, and avoid speculative assets like crypto or short-term options that resemble gambling.
