Q: What were the main challenges in balancing descriptive versus causal claims in the paper?
We acknowledged that the design has self-selection and potential time-varying confounds, so we framing the work as descriptive with cautious interpretation toward causal implications. The review team understood this balance, and additional robustness checks and clinical literature were used to argue that the findings were closer to causal signals without overstating causality.

Q: How did you decide to pursue this project given the pace of GLP-1 adoption and the availability of data?
The idea crystallized when Numerator had already collected GLP-1 usage data and Sylvia and Jura noticed that if GLP-1 adoption was widespread, it could meaningfully affect food purchasing patterns. The data access allowed a timely, policy-relevant examination of actual purchase behavior, not just self-reported changes.

As a reviewer, you should not use AI as it compromises confidentiality and expert judgment is essential.
