When Tony Hathaway was arrested outside a Seattle bank in February 2014, it brought an end to one of the most prolific bank robbery streaks in American history. Hathaway robbed 30 banks in a single year, all within a 30-mile radius of his suburban home. But that’s not the most surprising part of this story. Before Hathaway was a masterful bank robber—a shape-shifting professional who confounded mu... more

Wow what an excellent, raw, real & insightful podcast. You can hear the honesty in all the people interviewed & interviewee. As a person with SUD, whose life has been destroyed & rebuilt I commend Tony & his son for their honesty & clarity about substance abuse. Thank you all so much. We all can learn a lot from their stories.
This show is so crazy; crazy good.
Overall good story, excellent journalism and compelling story about the importance of avoiding the spiral that can occur with use of opioids
Great podcast; very well constructed. Mostly I wanted to offer a couple suggestions to Tony for work while he is thinking about launching his own business.
At least as of a couple years ago there were opportunities to teach English online to students in China and other countries. Also possibly customer service call center jobs that are done from your home - things that don’t have employees in direct contact with customers, other employees or company assets. Not because I think Tony is a dan... more
How does anyone listen to true crime and have any belief left that cops believe in upholding the law. They just want a conviction, not to stick to the law.
This was the first time I have listened to a podcast like this, and now I wish there were more like this one available to hear. I don’t even listen to my local radio show in the morning or audio books. This is what I want to hear about. I’m so glad I found it. 🩷
A podcast I find myself returning to again and again. I hope Tony has found a job and is doing well
An exceptional piece of journalism, telling a fascinating story that left me with an appreciation for the severity of the opioid crisis.
A worthy listen, for certain!
Amazing story! Hope Tony & Conner stay the course, we are rooting for you!!
Fantastic story of Boeing engineer who gets addicted to OxyContin and heroin, then robs banks to buy it. Detailed info how Purdue Pharm “hooked” millions on their drug OxyContin, telling doctors to keep prescribing b/c it wasn’t addictive!” Addictive podcast!
I am hooked on this story! As an opioid (pill) survivor still in recovery I could relate. Being a professional did not matter but will have ten years in a couple months thanks to God, AA and peace I feel. I have seen people get jobs with aircraft companies after ten years of recovery so don’t lose hope! How is Tony now? Thank you for sharing with us!
I’m on episode 3, and I can’t wait to hear more.
I learned so much about addiction and the struggles it causes. I was a bit uncomfortable with the "laughter" during ep 8(the Covid episode). My fingers are crossed that Tony and Connor and all affected by this disease have a happy ending.
I thought Hooked was a great listen, and I finished the season in a week. I appreciated that the host had a lot of empathy for Tony, but did not let him off the hook without asking some tough questions and holding him accountable. Tony did a great job of holding himself accountable as well. A really complex and heartbreaking story, but I hope for the absolute best for him and his family after listening.
I agree with the negative reviews. I feel that the host is enabling Tony. I feel Tony is not taking any responsibility for his actions. If he is not taking responsibility is he truly recovered?
