Should have made the word “shift” into the shift key. Maybe I’d give the pod another star if they had thought of it.

  • Taking a look inward

I’ve always had a heart for the marketplace. I’ve often thought I could be a BETTER pastor in the marketplace than I could in a church building. But I’ve not had the opportunity to process those thoughts openly. This was my chance to listen and learn.

This podcast has helped redeem my view of vocation, helped me look inward, and given me language that I needed.

Whether or not you stay in vocational ministry or make a shift, you should take a listen! You’ll be challenged and encouraged!

  • You’re Not Alone

Leaving ministry can feel so lonely and so painful.

The greatest gift this podcast gives those of us who have made the shift, are in the middle of the shift, or still considering the shift is that steadfast reassurance that everything is going to be ok and that you’re not alone.

So grateful for this podcast and highly recommend to those considering or in the middle of the shift!

  • Nothing like it

Holy Shift made me breathe a huge sigh of relief. I’m not alone. There’s other people who get it. There’s other people who’ve been there, done that, and come out strong and healthy on the other side. Didn’t know how much I needed a resource like this, and I’m so glad it exists.

This was so poignant for me. Listening to Matthias was like hearing parts of my own story. I left ministry after 20+ years (followed a calling in high school)and became a therapist as well. It was a painful instant goodbye and I spent a year being lost, feeling confused and deserted by people I had spent years supporting as a pastor, felt such shame, and experienced deep deep grief, while trying to function as a therapist, trying to make a living for my family. I lost so many relationships, e... more
