This has been a great podcast and really fun to listen to, but it feels like it has run out of steam since completing the watch cycle of all of Hitchcock’s movies.
Maybe they should start a new watch cycle of all the “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and “The Alfred Hitchcock Hour” TV episodes. Though Alfred Hitchcock only directed 17 of them, he was involved with all 361 of them. The TV production also has a nice tie-in with his movie “Psycho”.
I am a fan of the ‘The Best Years of Our Lives’. You said the film had no plot, which for people who want their films packaged perfectly to go down like a soda pop, I could see it. But there is significant subtext to the film, the time and place, and you both missed it. You made jokes about the length, as if the film is boring. I see what you did there. While this free version features good—but somewhat lesser films—a visit to the link offers the entirety of Hitchcock’s oeuvre… at a cost. This podcast, though entertaining, is what’s known as a honeypot. Three stars for the bait and switch.
‘HitchPod’, a podcast hosted by Cat Jones and Dan Liebke, is an absolute utter triumph. It is the only podcast that I have ever loved enough to loyally follow and eagerly await more of, rather than just dipping in and out when I fancy (as with most other podcasts). The format is one of watching a Hitchcock film every month and the pair discussing it, ranging from their own personal opinions to specific Hitchcock Movie Checklist items, such as the MacGuffin and cameo. Cat and Dan pour their he... more
Late to the Party with this podcast but I find these two presenters fun to listen to on my favourite film director of Hitchcock. I like the format each episode and the way they talk about each film with facts and, opinions and a few fun tests thrown in for good measure. I particularly like the alternative Hitchcock universe and the tropes. It ranks higher than a few other podcasts I listen too and that concludes my review.
