The first few episodes are an interesting summary of the complex, very early history of Britain’s railway network.
There’s enough material here for years of episodes.
So far, he gets the balance between detail and the wider story very well.
Recommended.
One of the best History podcasts out there and I wasn’t even interested in railways at the start! Michael is entertaining, informative and engaging. I’d recommend History of the Railways to anyone who enjoys history podcasts.
I really enjoyed these talks on the early days of railways in Britain . Easy to follow and engaging to even those with no previous interest, especially the description of the Rainhill Trials.
Looking forward to the next episodes.
