The episode where Van goes into a full manosphere rant after Rachel accurately points out that Black men have enabled the Adin Ross’s of the world to talk about Doechii the way he did was the last straw for me. Van barely hides hides his misogyny but likes to pretend that he’s somehow enlightened but I guess that was foolish of me to expect much from the same guy who gave Talib Kweli a platform to harass Maya Moody. Black men like Van are dangerous because they pretend to support Black women but... more
Not as a flex, but other does shows are usually too entry level info for me with mismatched hosts. I love how honest the hosts are they are as passionate and informative as they are imperfect, much like myself. They actually know what they’re talking about and they know what to talk about and they represent blackness in the same way as I do. Love.
This show would be better as simply Rachel with a guest or two. Van is an emotional disgrace and rude. Rachel get your own show…
I’m leaving this review because I was enjoying this podcast until I listened to Rachel’s opinion on Colin Kaepernick. She seems to be under the impression that since he won a lawsuit that ended his desire to play a sport that he has dedicated himself to since he was nine years old. Van Lathan thinks he’s smart. In fact, he throws around the word “intellectual“ more than any other podcast poster I have heard. This is probably early on he was put into a “gifted and talented program“ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. unfortunately being a big fish in a little it’s not the same as being that same fish in a big pond.
This shows up in some unpleasant ways on the podcast. He constantly shuts Rachel down, over talks her, states that her opinions are “wrong“ even if She’s saying the same... more
