  • Valuable educational resource!

I am a pediatric rheumatology nurse practitioner working in New Mexico, and due to our access issues see virtually all of the pediatric inflammatory eye disease in the state. This podcast has been a wonderful review of ophthalmology perspective and considerations for these complex patients. Thanks for making such a comprehensive yet approachable resource!

  • Disclosures

Fantastic podcast. Very practical and informative. I very much enjoyed the recent discussion of Suprachoroidal triamcinolone. I’ll recommend however that you make a note of the commercial disclosures of the guests as I think this is the standard for any medical education situation.

My threshold to treat these patients is increased due to the recent understanding of ongoing inflammation causing vision loss.
Episode 42: Multifocal Choroiditis and Punctate Inner Choroidopathy
Q: What role does fluorescein angiogram and ICG angiography play in your practice?
I really like FA for distinguishing active lesions and delineating CNVM, while ICG can be useful for quantifying deeper lesions.
Episode 42: Multifocal Choroiditis and Punctate Inner Choroidopathy
Q: Edmund, do you have patients with PIC that you've immunosuppressed?
If I see a case of PIC and then subsequently, they develop another lesion within the macula, it's hard for me to not immunosuppress them.
Episode 40: Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis-Associated Uveitis
Q: Sheila, for someone without a known history of uveitis, what are some of the screening guidelines for uveitis once they have a diagnosis of JIA?
We consider the type of JIA, ANA status, and patient age when determining screening frequency.
Episode 40: Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis-Associated Uveitis
Q: Ginny, when you've got a pediatric uveitis patient coming in and maybe they don't already carry a JIA diagnosis, what's on your differential diagnosis?
JIA is in my differential, along with conditions like sarcoid, and I perform a thorough exam to rule out infectious causes.
