  • For Those Looking To Optimize Their Physical Potential

Dr. Mike Hart is a brilliant and open minded person. As we all become more aware of group think and the dangers of it it is a relief to have a doctor speak up who is more in favor of plant medicine and healing through overall wellness instead of pharmaceuticals and other short-sighted conventional treatments. Dr. Hart is one of my go to’s when seeking information on human optimization and wellness. Very excited about this podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#218 Lab-Grown Meat, Grocery Prices, and the Real Drivers of Food Inflation in Canada (with the Food Professor)
Q: My first question for you, is lab-grown meat a real solution or is it overhyped?
Lab-grown meat has potential to reduce carbon footprint and enable nutrient customization, but consumer acceptance and cost are major hurdles. It won't be affordable immediately, and clear labeling will be essential for consumer trust and market adoption.
#219 Dr. Allen Frances on AI Chatbots, Mental Health Risks, Privacy, and the Overdiagnosis of Autism
Q: What populations are most at risk when using AI chatbots for mental health?
Frances identifies the very young, the very old, people with severe mental illness, and those who are socially isolated as the most at risk, with the greatest potential for harm if chatbots substitute for appropriate clinical care.
#217 Dr. Russell Kennedy on Anxiety as a Body Alarm: Childhood Patterns, Worry, Somatic Healing
Q: What is the core difference between treating anxiety as a thinking problem versus a feeling problem?
Anxiety is more accurately a feeling problem rooted in the body; addressing the body's alarm through somatic techniques can reduce the drive of anxious thoughts and create a more resilient state.
#216 VO2 Max, Zone 2 Training, HRV Wearables, Sauna, and Evidence-Based Performance Supplements with Brady Holmer
Q: How should athletes use heart rate variability in training, if at all?
HRV should not be used as the sole trigger for changing training; it can provide trends when measured under standardized conditions, but subjective feel and overall recovery are more reliable guides.
#216 VO2 Max, Zone 2 Training, HRV Wearables, Sauna, and Evidence-Based Performance Supplements with Brady Holmer
Q: Brady, what are the best uses of Zone 2 Cardio and why is it important for VO2 Max?
Zone 2 cardio builds the aerobic base and allows accumulation of training volume with less fatigue, supporting long-term endurance development and enabling higher-quality high-intensity sessions later on.
