  • For Those Looking To Optimize Their Physical Potential

Dr. Mike Hart is a brilliant and open minded person. As we all become more aware of group think and the dangers of it it is a relief to have a doctor speak up who is more in favor of plant medicine and healing through overall wellness instead of pharmaceuticals and other short-sighted conventional treatments. Dr. Hart is one of my go to’s when seeking information on human optimization and wellness. Very excited about this podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#226 Viewpoint Diversity, Physician-Assisted Suicide, AI, and Human Dignity in Medicine
Q: Do doctors ever tell you things privately that they're afraid to say publicly?
Colleagues privately express support but fear professional or financial repercussions, which undermines open dialogue and intellectual diversity in medicine.
#222 Peptides, Hormones, and Longevity: Safety, Skin Aging, NAD+, GLP-1s, and Mitochondrial Health with Dr. Ksenia
Q: What are the three best ways of slow aging of the skin, and how do topical vs injectable options compare?
Topical GHK-Cu shows evidence-supported results, while injections have mixed results depending on dose and individual factors. Topical formulations are generally more reliable for skin effects, while injections may help some patients, but evidence varies and copper and zinc balance is critical to avoid toxicity. Retin-A remains a widely used topical agent for cell turnover, and combining modalities—topical GHK-Cu, Estriol-containing products, and careful retinoid use—appears practical for many patients.
#222 Peptides, Hormones, and Longevity: Safety, Skin Aging, NAD+, GLP-1s, and Mitochondrial Health with Dr. Ksenia
Q: What do you think mainstream medicine gets wrong about this space, and what do you think health influencers get wrong about this space?
Mainstream medicine tends to remain skeptical about preventative and peptide-based approaches, often requiring FDA approval. In practice, I see patients who improve conditions like blood pressure or cholesterol through weight loss and micronutrient infusions, even if formal trials are lacking. The discrepancy highlights the challenge of translating mechanistic plausibility into broad clinical acceptance, while real-world observations suggest potential benefits worth exploring with careful monitoring.
#218 Lab-Grown Meat, Grocery Prices, and the Real Drivers of Food Inflation in Canada (with the Food Professor)
Q: My first question for you, is lab-grown meat a real solution or is it overhyped?
Lab-grown meat has potential to reduce carbon footprint and enable nutrient customization, but consumer acceptance and cost are major hurdles. It won't be affordable immediately, and clear labeling will be essential for consumer trust and market adoption.
#219 Dr. Allen Frances on AI Chatbots, Mental Health Risks, Privacy, and the Overdiagnosis of Autism
Q: What populations are most at risk when using AI chatbots for mental health?
Frances identifies the very young, the very old, people with severe mental illness, and those who are socially isolated as the most at risk, with the greatest potential for harm if chatbots substitute for appropriate clinical care.
