  • Two solid viewpoints

Nice to hear Mike Digi hosting his own podcast. I miss his insightful coverage of the Angels (and Dodgers). Always well written with a touch of humor.

Mike Trumbo adds the player perspective which is a plus

  • Love the show

Love the show and it’s incredible to hear these two discuss everything Angels.

My only critique: The posting of episodes has been tough. One episode was posted twice and the most recent episode is titled “Part 2” with no part one having been posted. We seem to join mid-conversation with no context on what has happened before.

I think once that gets worked out this will be a smooth running ship!

PS - I was at Mark Trumbo’s MLB debut and have the scorebook to prove it!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

HIGH CEILING? Angels hope to hit jackpot with 2-way star Jared Grindlinger
Q: What are the Angels getting in this 6'3, now 200 pounder, a kid who bats from the left side and also throws from the left side?
Benji Medure responds that Grindlinger is a very talented two-way player who wants to compete, with elite bat-to-ball ability and a strong left-handed throwing/pitching profile, but the organization plans to develop him as a hitter first while keeping pitching on the side as a potential future path.
BROOMS OUT: Angels are swept by Mariners despite strong starting pitching
Q: What did you think of that decision to leave the rookie in with the bases loaded and a high pitch count?
The hosts felt it showed trust in the pitcher's current stuff and that managing fatigue while leveraging favorable matchups can benefit a young arm in the long run.
ANGELS MAILBAG: What three moves would you make if you were the Halos' GM?
Q: From Raul Ignacio, who would you like to see the Angels bring up from the minor leagues to bolster a shaky bullpen?
The proposed call-up is Sammy Natera Jr. as a power arm to contribute in a playoff push, with reference to internal options like George Classen and acknowledging Natera already being up in the big leagues, and the need for immediate bullpen help.
ANGELS MAILBAG: What three moves would you make if you were the Halos' GM?
Q: If you could bring back one former Angel to the current clubhouse for leadership and mentorship, who would it be and why?
Mark and Mike discuss the leadership qualities of Tory Hunter and Darren Erstad, highlighting how they led by example, competed, and set a strong tone after losses. They emphasize that such leadership is missing now and that bringing back a former leader who embodies accountability and resilience could help reset the clubhouse culture.
ANGELS MAILBAG: What three moves would you make if you were the Halos' GM?
Q: From Riley Breckenridge of Orange, Artie fires Perry and gives you the keys as GM. What are your first three roster moves if you're trying to build this organization into anything other than what it's been for a decade plus?
The three moves outlined are: 1) trade Mike Trout, accepting significant money to fetch two decent prospects and to ensure Trout can chase October baseball elsewhere; 2) trade Jose Soriano for one or two prospects to recoup major-league value while aiming for a future core; 3) option Logan Hoppe to AAA to clear his head and reset his game, with a focus on getting his bat going and reducing pressure; overall aiming to maximize upside and rebuild around rising talent.
