I recently listened to an episode.
This guy’s football acumen and his ability to see, digest, and unpack virtually everything in a football game is astounding. Most people with this guy’s intelligence go into nuclear physics or teach graduate level Shakespeare.
Listening to this guy break down a game and then listening to Lincoln Riley and you just can’t believe whose making the big money, Woods is at Herbstreit level (easily) but he’s much smarter, no doubt a Mensa. Get rid of that Moron frat boy McAfee and his tank tops and b... more
Decent show but anytime they start talking about the Big Ten they are unbelievably ignorant. If Bruin fans are listening to these guys we are in for a rude awakening because they make it sound like any PAC 12 school can win 9 games in the new league without even trying. I know they’re Bruins but I thought there would at least be some attempt at journalism happening on the show
Woods analysis of this game was one for the ages: pithy, sarcastic, insightful, accurate, raw. It’s hard to believe that ASU (a team that surrendered 55 to a poor offensive Utah team) could completely stifle Chip’s offense. I think it’s possible to say that Chip’s stock value is lower than any coach in the PAC 12. He’s like Elton John: incredible songwriter in the 70’s but hasn’t written a good song in the last 50 years. Chip is smug, acts like he’s doing you a favor just to go to the mike. Talk... more
Dave Woods is brilliant at seeing the game the way a great coach would see the game. Rarely do you get guys this intelligent devoting their work life to sports. I have heard many college football podcasts from different schools and no one breaks down games and personnel like Dave Woods. If you listen enough you get a graduate level understanding of football. He’s also very articulate and he puts sentences together clearly and cleverly. Not much gets past him. He does a podcast with a USC c... more
