  • Common sense is finally getting more common

Thank you Gript, just can’t get enough of you guys. So grateful for your regular doses of no frills, common sense chats. Great rapport between you all and highly entertaining and informative. As an Irish woman living in UK, with my head in my hands most of the time, as I see the dangerous path the country is going down, it’s a huge relief to see the fightback has begun and we’ve just won our first battle, with the resounding No/No results. Keep up the excellent work.

  • Valuable perspective on Irish affairs

Important to listen in order to find out what is really going on in Ireland. Ireland’s mainstream media is very woke, speaks with one voice and ignores anything and everything that does not agree with its markedly left wing perspective. Anybody that asks questions or tries to get at the truth of things is labelled right wing.

  • A bulwark against the MSM

I don’t listen to all the Gript podcasts but the Weekly Round Up is essential listening as it takes the temperature on the political and social landscape in Ireland and beyond its borders. It’s is refreshing to have different opinions and it is vital listening even if you may disagree with the opinions voiced. Get out of the goldfish bowl!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

This Garda diversity training is insane
Q: Should Irish Americans who love Ireland be allowed to vote in all elections?
The hosts express strong skepticism about extending voting rights to generations living abroad, arguing it could dilute national sovereignty and tie political outcomes to people not residing in the country; they suggest voting should be restricted to those with a stake in the country.
"Tradwives" are sexist, Kinahan busted, & more
Q: What is the hosts' main critique of the Tradwife campaign?
They argue it's a government-driven social pressure campaign funded under gender-equality rhetoric that polices traditional family roles, reflecting a trauma-informed political culture that prioritizes political ideology over practical support for families.
Girl Power
Q: What are your thoughts on the balance between being a mother and pursuing political leadership roles?
Elaine discusses the challenges of motherhood in politics, the need for merit over gender quotas, and her personal experience of balancing family life with public service.
Girl Power
Q: Why did you decide to join or form a new party instead of working within an established one?
Elaine reflects on the desire for change, the marathon nature of building a party, and the frustrations with slow progress and party whip systems.
Girl Power
Q: Could you explain for me anyway how Independent Ireland started and why you eventually left the party?
Elaine describes founding Independent Ireland with a core group, gathering support, and the internal dynamics that led to leaving due to a lack of direction and leadership strength.
