I loved "The Designated Mourner", another play Wallace Shawn made into an audiodrama. Witty writing, absurd, but with intellectual gravity was something I also expected from this piece.
Not sure what to think about it. An interesting scenario and setup turns into something that is a bit too bizarre. All the talking about male genitals seems just too forced. Many of the descriptions are grotesquely funny but meander a bit for their own sake. So really - I don't know.
One of my absolute favorite Wallace Shawn pieces, erotic (ish) and wicked and deeply (im)moral. Performed to perfection and produced beautifully. Podcasts were meant for Wallace Shawn.
The trippiest and most haunting play. Fantastic work!

It’s like hearing an optical illusion… with lots of dicks. Can’t stop listening.
