  • Amazing Podcast

The only podcast of its nature. The home for Dune content on the internet as far as I’m concerned. Few other people go as in depth and show such care for literary content when it comes to Frank Herbert’s world as these two do. Please keep making this because I will keep listening.

  • Detailed and infuriating

I love Dune, both the books and movies, and love the idea of a deep dive into the books. Unfortunately, whilst they seem to have adequate knowledge about the subject, they spend most of the podcast laughing at their own painfully unfunny jokes and slapping one another on the back or being completely hyperbolic about the text.

  • Good, but edit a touch more

This is the best Dune podcast out there. The hosts’ hearts are in the right places and despite some pronunciation issues with names (and words), their research is excellent and their points compelling.

What prevents me from giving this five starts is its scripted and edited, and yet the sheer number of minutes given over to inane giggling is REALLY distracting.

Mailbag: Chani in Part Three, Dune Theme Park, and Is There Email in Dune?
Q: Do you think Chani's portrayal in Dune Part 3 will diverge from the books, and is Messiah a better-fitting model for her arc?
They express cautious optimism about Chani's portrayal under Denis Villeneuve, suggesting the director may deepen her role while staying faithful to Messiah's core arc and potentially filling in gaps during the 12-year gap between Dune and Messiah.
Mailbag: Tolkien vs Herbert, Jewish Amtal, and Is Dune Actually Fantasy?
Q: What piece of lore would you like to have seen expanded upon?
A potential project discussed is one focusing on the time between the formation of the Spacing Guild and Paul's rise, exploring significant events through interconnected short stories.
Mailbag: Tolkien vs Herbert, Jewish Amtal, and Is Dune Actually Fantasy?
Q: How does local government actually work in the Dune universe?
Local governance involves a hierarchy of houses, with minor houses managing cities or regions under major houses, and they are supported by bureaucratic structures that maintain law and order.
Mailbag: Tolkien vs Herbert, Jewish Amtal, and Is Dune Actually Fantasy?
Q: Is Chapterhouse the same planet as Wallach 9?
No, it's not the same planet, Chapterhouse has a unique backstory connected to the Sisterhood and their history after the fall of the God Emperor.

The rejection letters consistently pointed out issues with the length, density, and complexity of Dune, indicating a struggle to market it within the science fiction genre.
