  • Thorough

Today I was listening to the interview they did with Chris Lemmon and Charlie Matthau, and honestly, it's the only time I've listened to an interview and felt that the folks involved really knew their stuff. They weren't just interviewing celebrities for the sake of interviewing. They were true film fans.

  • Mouth Sounds

Frank is an incessant lip-smacker. It’s all sucking slurping sounds before he says anything, which makes the show hard to listen to, unfortunately. Gilbert was perfect.

  • Sad to no longer have Gilbert with us, and very glad they keep uploading encores of his old episodes. You don't know what you have until it's gone.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

GGACP Rewind: Episode #14: Bill Persky
Q: Can you tell us how you started out in this long writing career you've had?
Bill Persky started his career by getting a job for $30 a week at WNEW radio in 1955. After writing a jingle unexpectedly, he quickly advanced to head of the continuity department.
GGACP Rewind: Episode #15: David Steinberg
Q: Can I tell you just, I know you aren't there, but I always heard a story that Bill Cosby once punched out Tommy Smothers.
I think I would have known that but I mean Tommy Smothers could get punched out by a nun, and he would go obnoxious to people.
GGACP Rewind: Episode #15: David Steinberg
Q: So did you see any of that?
I never saw the personal life. I know there were a lot of divorces in them. Although you get with Jack Benny and George Burns, you have people who were very stable type people.
GGACP Rewind: Episode #5: Marty Allen
Q: Can you tell us about your first experiences with John Lennon?
After he realized I was a comedian, John complimented me and was really nice. He had a great sense of humor.
GGACP Rewind: Episode #5: Marty Allen
Q: Tell us about playing with The Beatles, meeting with them, following them in '64.
The experience was fantastic with thousands of girls waiting backstage. When they introduced us, I walked out and said, 'Hello there, I'm Ringo's mother,' and the kids went wild.
