  • Finally! A good film podcast for us C.H.U.D.S.

I’ve followed more than a few movie podcasts in my day, but this is my new favorite. I would 100% lend out one of my out-of-print blu-rays to Drew and Travis. They are that trustworthy.

  • Like a Modern day Siskel & Ebert… but nerdier

I found this podcast through their Giant Freakin Robot YT channel and was immediately hooked. Drew and Travis are true film buffs and use uppity terms like maudlin, pastiche and motif correctly and non-douchey. There’s almost an academic tone to this show as they’re deconstructing films from a critical point of view and not just arbitrary nostalgia or “did you know” trivia. These guys remind me of other retro pop culture appreciators like Doug Walker, Brad Jones, James Rolfe and the pre-Trump y... more

  • Good alternative to actually watching movies.

As I am a multitasking hermit, I have a cultivated a habit of listening to podcasts all day long while simultaneously doing other things that don’t involve listening.

GenreVision is a real treat, as it provides spoilers, and consequently serves as a “good-enough” alternative to watching stacks and stacks of VHS tapes that I always wanted to watch, while also notifying me of actual must-see movies I do eventually actually screen.

  • I never write reviews…

I am a lazy consumer of audio programming. I listen to NPR and have never made a donation. I listen to many podcasts and have never sent them money let alone bothered to use my VERY VALUABLE TIME AND ENERGY to leave a review.

Yet…here I am. I am exerting thought and action to lend my support to this fun and refreshing podcast. The opinions are well thought out and informed. The hosts are friendly, personable, and approachable. I look forward to new episodes, old episodes, and all the Patreon c... more
