現在、不登校の小中学生は約30万人を超え、過去最多を記録しています。これに伴い、日本の子供たちの自己肯定感は先進国の中でも最低水準にあるといわれており、「自分にいいところがある」と思えない子供が増えているのが現状です。学校教育に馴染めず、自分の殻に閉じこもってしまう。そうした子供たちの心の叫びに対し、現代の教育システムがどう応えていくかが大きな課題となっています。 more

🔶教育の基盤としての寺子屋文化
江戸時代、日本各地に広がった「寺子屋」は、お寺や民家を舞台に、読み書きそろばんといった「実学」を教える地域密着型の教育機関でした。この寺子屋こそが当時の日本の高い識字率を支え、明治5年の「学制（がくせい）」発布以降の近代教育の確かな土台となりました。お寺と教育は、歴史的に切っても切り離せない密接な関係にあり、学びを地域で育む精神は今もなお受け継がれています。

🔶仏教用語禁止クエストにみる言葉の浸透
最近、インターネット上で「仏教用語禁止クエスト」というRPGが注目を集めています。これは、選択肢の中に仏教用語が含まれていると即座にゲームオーバーになるという斬新なルールですが、実はクリアするのは至難の業です。私たちが何気なく使う「ウロウロ（うろうろ）」という言葉さえ、煩悩が漏れ出ている状態を指す「有漏（うろ）」という仏教語が語源です。それほどまでに、仏教は私たちの言葉の中に深く浸透しています。

🔶2度の震度7がもたらした甚大な被害
2016年（平成28年）4月14日午後9時26分、そしてそのわずか2日後の16日未明。熊本を襲ったのは、観測史上類を見ない「2度の震度7」という激震でした。災害関連死を含め276名もの尊い命が失われ、家屋の倒壊や墓石の転倒など、街の景色は一変しました。震災から10年が経過した今、お寺の建物の歪みや修復された墓石を目にするたび、あの時の恐ろしさと震災の爪痕の深さを改めて思い知らされます。
