🔶厩戸皇子から聖徳太子へ、激動の時代と仏教伝来
近年、学校の教科書などでは当時の名である「厩戸皇子（うまやどのおうじ）」という表記が増えていますが、没後に「聖徳太子」の諡号（しごう）が贈られたこの方は、日本の仏教史上、極めて重要な人物です。浄土真宗の宗祖・親鸞聖人は、太子を「和国の教主（わこくのきょうしゅ）」、すなわち「日本の釈尊（お釈迦さま）」であると深く崇め奉りました。そのため、真宗の寺院の本堂内陣（向かって右側）には必ず聖徳太子の絵像や木像が安置されており、今も大変大切にされています。... more
🔶泥中から清らかに咲き誇る悟りのシンボル
暑い季節を迎えると、水面に美しく大輪の花を咲かせる「蓮（はす）」は、仏教において最も象徴的な植物です。お釈迦さまが誕生されたインドの国花でもあり、仏教では「悟り」や「清らかさ」の象徴とされてきました。蓮は濁った泥の中から茎を伸ばし、泥に染まることなく清浄な花を咲かせます。この姿が、迷いや苦しみに満ちた現実世界（泥）にありながら、それに決して染まらずに清らかな智慧と慈悲（花）を開かせる仏さまの悟りの姿に重ねられているのです。

🔶唯識が説く一水四見の教え
仏教の「唯識（ゆいしき）」という思想の中に、「一水四見（いっすいしけん）」という言葉があります。
これは「一つの水であっても、見る者の立場や境遇によって四つの異なる見え方をする」という意味です。
例えば、天上の世界に住む「天人（てんにん）」には美しく透き通った瑠璃（宝石）のように見え、私たち「人間」にはそのままの水に見えます。また、「魚」にとっては大切な住処（すみか）であり、飢えと渇きに苦しむ「餓鬼（がき）」にとっては、燃え盛る炎や恐ろしい膿（うみ）の川に見え... more
🔶お寺の掲示板の由来と伝道の役割
お寺の門前に必ずといっていいほど設置されている掲示板は、単なる行事案内（広報）以上の大切な役割を担っています。これらは「伝道掲示板（でんどうけいじばん）」と呼ばれ、明治時代、浄土宗がキリスト教の熱心な伝道活動に影響を受け、仏教の教えを広く一般に伝えるために始めたのがきっかけといわれています。門信徒のみならず、お寺の前を通りがかる人々の目にも留まるよう、仏教の智慧や心のあり方を短く、鋭い言葉で貼り出したのが、現代の形へと受け継がれました。
