仏教において「食」は命の根源であり、悟りへの道とも深く関わっています。かつて過酷な苦行で命を落としかけたお釈迦さまを救ったのは、村娘スジャータが捧げた一杯の「乳粥（ちちがゆ）」でした。この供養によって体力を回復されたお釈迦さまは、極端な苦行では真の悟りを得られないと気づき、中道の教えを見出されました。乳粥という一つの料理こそが、仏教の歴史を大きく動かす原点となったのです。

🔶お彼岸の由来と波羅蜜多の心
3月20日の「春分の日」は、お彼岸の中日です。お彼岸の語源は、サンスクリット語の「パーラミター」を音写した「波羅蜜多（はらみった）」であり、「悟りの岸へ至る」ことを意味します。太陽が真東から昇り、真西に沈むこの時期、私たちは西に沈む太陽の姿に「西方浄土（さいほうじょうど）」を想います。科学的な目線を超えて、阿弥陀さまの限りない命と光の救いに心を寄せる、それが浄土真宗のお彼岸の歩みです。

🔶震災から15年、記憶と現実へのまなざし
2011年3月11日、午後2時46分。宮城県三陸沖を震源としたマグニチュード9.0の巨大地震は、津波や震災関連死を含め2万2,000人以上の尊い命を奪いました。震災から15年が経過した今なお、福島県の大熊町や双葉町など7市町村には帰還困難区域が残り、避難生活を余儀なくされている方々がおられます。仙台市立荒浜小学校の跡地のように、校舎の2階まで津波が押し寄せた記憶を留める遺構は、私たちに自然災害の脅威と命の重さを静かに語り続けています。

🔶日本における大学制度の変遷と起源
日本の大学の起源は、701年の「大宝律令」にまでさかのぼります。当時は貴族の子弟を対象とした官吏養成機関でしたが、その後、日本最古の総合大学といわれる「足利学校」や、弘法大師空海にゆかりのある「種智院（しゅちいん）」など、多様な教育の場が生まれました。近代に入り、明治19年の「帝国大学令」によって西洋式の大学制度が整えられ、大正7年の「大学令」を経て、現在の私立大学を含む高等教育の枠組みが確立されていきました。
