7月7日の「七夕」は、古くは「七夕（しちせき）の節句」と呼ばれ、江戸時代には五節句の一つとして庶民の間にも広く定着した日本の伝統行事です。そのルーツは、日本古来の神事と中国の伝説が融合したものといわれています。
元来、日本では「棚機（たなばた）」という織機を用い、選ばれた清らかな女性が水辺の「機屋（はたや）」にこもって神様のための着物を織り、秋の豊作を祈って人々の穢れを祓う「棚機津女（たなばたつめ）」の神事が行われていました。やがて仏教が伝来すると... more
🔶親鸞聖人が「和国の教主」と讃えた聖徳太子
先週に引き続き、「浄土真宗と聖徳太子」というテーマでさらに深くお話を伺います。日本仏教の恩人である聖徳太子は、浄土真宗の宗祖・親鸞（しんらん）聖人から「和国の教主（わこくのきょうしゅ）」、すなわち「日本におけるお釈迦さま」として深く敬われました。そのお徳を偲び、浄土真宗の寺院の本堂内陣（仏さまが安置されている空間の向かって右側）には、今も聖徳太子の絵像や木像が大切に掲げられています。親鸞聖人の生涯と聖徳太子の間には、聖人自身の歩みを大きく決定づける... more
🔶厩戸皇子から聖徳太子へ、激動の時代と仏教伝来
近年、学校の教科書などでは当時の名である「厩戸皇子（うまやどのおうじ）」という表記が増えていますが、没後に「聖徳太子」の諡号（しごう）が贈られたこの方は、日本の仏教史上、極めて重要な人物です。浄土真宗の宗祖・親鸞聖人は、太子を「和国の教主（わこくのきょうしゅ）」、すなわち「日本の釈尊（お釈迦さま）」であると深く崇め奉りました。そのため、真宗の寺院の本堂内陣（向かって右側）には必ず聖徳太子の絵像や木像が安置されており、今も大変大切にされています。... more
