Q: What would you recommend if you're on the buying side? What's best practice in panel purchases?
Start by mapping the supply ecosystem, identify where respondents come from, and monitor KPIs such as incidence and completion rates; avoid assuming broad panel access guarantees quality, and push for transparency from suppliers about where participants come from and how they are recruited.
J.D Deitch (Part 2): Market Research’s Quality Crisis....and what the industry can do to solve it.
Q: On that question of sampling and data, do you mind if we touch on panels for a second? What are some of the key issues buyers of panel samples should be aware of?
Two main challenges are rampant fraud and low engagement of respondents, with programmatic execution sometimes crowding out quality participants; buyers should understand the supply ecosystem, monitor KPIs, and know where their suppliers fit in to make informed decisions.
