  • Great Show

The best source for CBJ content from one of the best in the business. Aaron continues to provide great insight on Columbus Blue Jackets hockey.

  • Too infrequent

This is a good podcast if you like the Blue Jackets. Honestly though, no post-draft analysis? No analysis re: Babs/Vincent?

  • Fewer Live Shows

Love the podcast but you have to cut down the live shows. Audio quality is terrible but the questions are just becoming ridiculously repetitive about tanking and should or shouldn’t the Jackets send guys to Cleveland. Have some guests on who can provide some different insight into the CBJ or other issues in the league.

  • Poor audio, great content

Porty I dig your insight and the content but oh my goodness please seek out an audio professional/producer to master your stuff.

Ez tip: mute the guest during your answer. Hearing your echo at 100% volume from some Twitter live guest is insufferable.

  • Appreciate your work.

Aaron I have always felt you have done an excellent job. Been listening since the days of the Dispatch. I appreciate the work that you have done.

My only issue is that I wish you were more upfront. The Jeff Rimer episode was great because I finally heard from you your insight as to why things went the way they did with each guy. I listen and read because I respect your opinion and would like to hear more of it.

I still have little to no reason to understand the disconnect with the players the... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Blue Jackets big signing of Charlie Coyle
Q: Given the cap going up, how do you see the organization handling future contract discussions with players like Jenner, Marchment, and Fantilli?
The panelists expect a careful balance between short-term needs and long-term cap considerations, with a focus on keeping core pieces while allowing room to grow the roster through internal development and selective signings, rather than overcommitting to eight-year deals across the board.
Blue Jackets big signing of Charlie Coyle
Q: Hey, what are your thoughts on the six-year contract for Charlie Coyle and how it balances competing priorities for the team?
The move secures center depth and cements a veteran presence in the lineup, which can help with culture and flexibility in pursuing other UFAs or RFAs, while acknowledging the risk of long-term commitment given Coyle's age. It was seen as a strategic choice to keep the core intact and maintain competitive momentum.
Bones on blast!
Q: What stood out most about Rick Bowness's post-game comments?
The guests agree that his blunt critique of the team's culture was powerful and potentially necessary, and that the moment could influence next season's leadership and accountability, depending on how players and ownership respond.
Blue Jackets approach the NHL trade deadline
Q: What is the value of keeping or moving Charlie Coyle at this juncture?
Coyle is seen as the most valuable asset due to his right-handed center play and leadership, so the decision would hinge on the return and whether it strengthens the team now or down the road; salary retention considerations would also factor in.
Blue Jackets approach the NHL trade deadline
Q: Where are you going to start with UFA moves and potential additions at the deadline?
I'd keep the core intact if we're three points out and still in the mix, and look to add a big piece rather than a depth player, prioritizing someone who can help immediately rather than long-term projects.
