  • Host Can’t Stop Talking About Himself

I tried listening to the 7 laws of power episode, but my god, the host wouldn’t stop talking about himself. The host has lost sight of the podcast itself - guest is irrelevant, everyone is just coming to hear him talk. Here is a summarized transcript “when I was a commander” … “I am reading Plutarch” … when I rose up the ranks” … “I was successful” … “i made my own brand by wanting to help others be as smart and successful as myself” ….”when I was in command (5 more times)🤢🤢🤮

  • Review of Episode 154

This podcast really resonated with me and what I’ve experienced in the military so far. I found myself nodding my head in agreement and taking a moment to think about some insights I had never considered. LTC (R) Joe Byerly and LTC(P) Weimer create a dynamic conversation and complement each other well in a podcast format. Both podcasters provided insights from their military experience while acknowledging the limitations of the scope of that experience.

  • Not just for military folks-highly recommend!!

“From the Green Notebook” is one of the best podcasts out there today. I love listening to it on my commute to and from work, while I’m walking around the neighborhood, or even doing household chores. I love Joe’s humble, easygoing manner when he interviews his guests. These interviews aren’t just fluff pieces, however. Many of them have gold nuggets you can use in your professional and personal life even if you’re not in the military. Lastly, if you’re looking for your next book to read, Joe ca... more

The Courage to Start Something New with Andy Yakulis
Q: What advice would you give someone leaving the military and looking to start something new?
I recommend the Saturday morning coffee test—look at what you naturally gravitate toward in your free time, explore fields you're passionate about (like defense tech for me), and be willing to take risks by timing your move with market opportunities and your own readiness. It's also important to temper expectations and allow yourself time to recover before diving in full-time.
How Work Stress Hijacks Your Life with Dr. Guy Winch
Q: How does stress filter its way into our lives?
Stress doesn't stay at the office; it infiltrates our homes and relationships, often causing irritability and ruminations.
Culture, Process, and Technology with General Christopher Donahue
Q: How do you communicate vision when you have a disperse team?
You have to trust your subordinates and make them understand the vision.
Culture, Process, and Technology with General Christopher Donahue
Q: What are some of the lessons you've picked up that have changed your perspective?
Every level, you learn something different about what you have to bring in and how to transform.
Open Doors & Hidden Worlds: The Power of Curiosity with Brad Meltzer
Q: How important is transformation?
Meltzer discusses transformation as the hardest magic trick of all and emphasizes the importance of being open to learning and evolving throughout life, reflecting on the complexity of human experience and personal growth.
