A history podcast with a twist: Friendly Fire uses war movies as a point of entry on not only the history of war, but the history of how societies think about war. John Roderick, Adam Pranica and Benjamin Ahr Harrison dissect movies from throughout the history of cinema, talk about film production, pedantic quibbles with costumes and airplanes, and keep you laughing the entire time.

Let them eat beans!
I didn’t recon much to this podcast when I first heard an episode but I have to say it has grown on me. The trio work well together and although I sometimes feel that they didn’t really examine the film too carefully, the back and forth between the hosts is funny and informative, often delving into the reasons for the conflict that the film is trying to portray.
5 Bathtubs!
Just listened to the Saving Private Ryan episode and don’t think I’ll listen to any more.
I don’t think the trio have thoroughly researched their topic and things like laughing about soldiers being hit just feels insulting.
The presenters seem to base their knowledge, and even joke about this, from video games rather than a bit of research.
Gutted, because the premise behind this podcast seemed so good.
The podcast is great, I don’t care what anyone says on social media… it’s not real life
