  • Re-releasing old episodes

This was one of my favorite podcasts until I noticed that lately they’ve just been re-releasing old episodes under different titles. I’d love some new episodes, but if they’re just repeats then unfortunately I’ll be unsubscribing.

  • I listened to a few episodes but the program is only useful for the earliest beginners, not seasoned freelancers who are trying to scale. Each episode starts with 3 minutes of ads. The last episode I listened to was 11 minutes in before they started talking about the topic, and that included a second bank of ads. The advice was, I think, weak. They recommended joining your local Chamber of Commerce and spending $1000 to join a local networking group to find leads. These tips might be ok for ... more

  • Drives me insane

I would listen to this show a lot more if the show info appeared at the top of the page when I clicked on it in my Apple Podcasts. Unfortunately, the most recent show is always at the bottom! This is the only podcast that does it that way and I’m not a fan of scrolling!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Mental Health > Hustle Culture
Q: How do you get the passion for your business back?
It's important to remember the reasons behind your business and allow yourself permission to coast sometimes. Finding new challenges can also help rekindle your passion.
Is It Just Me? Or...
Q: Do you ever feel like it's easier or better to sell projects as a freelancer than as an agency?
It's more about personal connections. Clients often trust an individual more than an agency, but agencies can provide better long-term support.
Rush Fees: A Trap or a Bonus?
Q: Should I charge a rush fee when my client calls me last minute and needs something done quickly?
You should assess whether you want to do it and maintain boundaries; if yes, charge a rush fee, but remember to set expectations with the client.
Why Delegating Isn't Working
Q: How do you go about delegating project work so that the team can run independently without so many dependencies on me?
You should establish clear training and documentation, set communication boundaries, and hire individuals who can think for themselves to enhance delegation.
Did I Just Lose Money?
Q: Do I bill them for the extra work or do I just eat the cost?
The hosts advise sending the invoice regardless of the earlier lack of communication about extra costs, as the client may already expect to pay more.
