  • Sound advice for Catholics about forgiveness

Dr. Carron is covering a topic that many of us, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, need to hear. Whereas there’s this huge emphasis on forgiveness in Christianity, we don’t grow up with a well-formed understanding of it. Finding a treatment of the topic that comports with the Faith is rare. Dr. Carron does a great job on this!!

S3E20 Fighting for Hope: Veteran Suicide and the Battle for Belonging
Q: Motivation to join the military and what kept him there
John describes enlistment as a path he fell in love with, finding belonging in ROTC, and the sense of purpose and camaraderie that kept him engaged for three decades.
S3E18 Loving an Alcoholic: Healing the Hidden Wounds Left Behind
Q: So what is your story? How did you end up being who you are today and doing the work you do?
I grew up in a big Italian Catholic family, married young, had children, and faced a husband's drinking that escalated into unsafe conditions. After seeking support and realizing the impact on my kids, I pursued health coaching and holistic practices, leaning on faith to guide recovery and help others heal through nutrition, movement, and spiritual discipline.
S3E17 Forgiveness After Infidelity: Healing From Divorce
Q: Tell us about your backstory and how forgiveness became a path you teach.
Abigail explains that she struggled with forgiving her ex-husband after infidelity, spent seven years processing the pain, and ultimately received divine guidance to create a structured forgiveness program focused on healing, stress management, and healthier coping.
S3E11 Abuse of Conscience: How Faith is Manipulated
Q: If someone realizes they have committed or experienced spiritual abuse, how should they begin repairing the damage?
Start with curiosity and compassion, acknowledge the harm, seek to repair where possible, and involve sincere conversations or apologies where appropriate, while ensuring ongoing protection for others from further harm and placing trust in personal discernment and prayer.
S3E11 Abuse of Conscience: How Faith is Manipulated
Q: Can you give two practical examples of how abuse of conscience can manifest in real life?
One example is bishops pressuring parishioners to vote a certain way with warnings of mortal sin, which coerces conscience; another is a parent using spiritual authority to claim direct messages from God to force a child into specific behaviors, replacing the child's own conscience.
